Hi all,

here is my first video tutorial about CAT. In this video I'll show how to use Retargeting in CATMotion correctly and how you can quickly create a walk sequence for multiple-legged characters. I am looking forward to adding more videos soon.

Note: You will need the TSCC Codec from http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp to watch the video.

Click here to download the video: http://www.graeck.de/showroom/CAT_Tutorial_CATMotion_Intro.wmv (17m 32s; 57.3 MB)

Click here to download the second video: http://www.graeck.de/showroom/CAT_Tutorial_CATMotion_Layers.wmv (http://www.graeck.de/showroom/CAT_Tutorial_CATMotion_Layers.wmv)(17m 55s; 53.5MB)

I would be very pleased to receive feedback.

nice feature demo my only crit is to slow down when talking a little as your accent is sometimes difficult to understand some of the words as they are spoken with a accent
that's a bit hard to decifer...but multiple plays/rewinds should help anyone fill in the gaps.

thanks for taking the time to make these btw!

Thanks for your tips! What do you mean with "but multiple plays/rewinds should help anyone fill in the gaps"? Is the speed of the tutorial too fast?

Hey Gräck, I was too lazy to download the codec so I didn't get any audio anyway, but I suspect what Stephen meant was that multiple plays and rewinds will help people understand what you are saying if they have trouble with your accent.

Good feature demo though.

Ok, of course rewinds shouldn't ne necessary to understand the tutorial acoustically. I had to do a lot of runs because I had problems with the compression and capturing of the video, so in the final capturing I was speaking a bit too fast partly. I will keep this in mind.

Do you think it is more a feature demo than a tutorial?

maybe a little bit of both, but as I said I was too lazy to download the codec so I couldn't hear the audio. I will go get the codec and give it another watch.

Hey Gräck, I have just watched it with sound and I can understand Stephen's comment, you can be quite difficult to understand occasionally.

As for your question about feature demo vs tutorial, I do think it's feels like a bit of both.

I like my tutorials simple (just like me ;-) and at a slightly slower pace. When people charge through them they always feel like a demo to me.

Ok thanks, so I will restrict to a specific topic next time and try to speak more clear.

exactly what I meant to say.

I feel badly about criticising your English, you should hear my German, it's absolutely rubbish.

Anyway I'm wondering where I have this English accent from, actually I'm talking German only!

i think just slowing the pace of the narration will really help eveyone other than that it's a good demo of some of the features of c.a.t.

In that case your German is as bad as mine :-)

In case you don't want to install the TSCC codec use the Camtasia standalone player.

Hi there,

here's the new video tutorial about rigging in CAT3. I will highlight how to use the new Setup Controller feature, how to use it in a facial rig and the new rig save/load system.

You will need the TechSmith codec to view it (http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp (http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp)).

Here's the video:

Have fun and any feedback is welcomed!
