Ive taken the character in a new direction altho ive only tweaked his silhouette a bit. He's more ape like now. Im trying to mix mostly new with a touch of old rather than mostly old with a touch of new like the last design.

nice concept. i like the design on the last one. the only thing that bothers me are the eyes, they look little too innocent now. may be much smaller eyes could have a different feeling.

Decided to go ahead with the more futuristic concept tho it still needs to be infused with "ancientness". Ill add detail as I sculpt. This is about 6 hours work on the base mesh without hands feet and hair and Im still at 2600 tris so Ill have a decent amount of polys to work with for detailing.. zbrushing right now is not really an option.. never tried it before.. crits are more than welcome

Small Update

mashru - you were right about the eyes, I was going for a blank look on his face but it just comes off as harmless. Ill try to remedy that

added hair and detail here and there and blocked out hands.. I want to start with uvmapping next weekend so I can start texturing as soon as possible.. crits are more welcome

This is pretty freaking awesome. I wasn't so sure about it when I saw the concepts, but the model is f-ing sweet.

Thanks a bunch man, I wasnt getting feedback for it and now for it to be so positive is quite rewarding. I know the concept is a bit sketchy but I tend to concept as I go... horrible method but Im not a character designer by any stretch. Ill have updates of the character and his weapon soon.

I don't know why you're not getting more replies. This guy has tons of personality and he's a whole lot more interesting than most of the other boring sci-fi junk a lot of people are doing.

What sort of weapon are you going to give him?

I'm glad you like the character. Im still undecided as far as the weapon. I was thinking either an obscenely large mace, a robotic assistant of some sort or a pixie... Ill come up with something by sunday for sure.

Actually a flail wouldnt be a bad idea... but not a teensy one tho.. preferably monstruously big

Im back. After tightening up the model and modelling the weapon and working 10 hour days 6 days a week while recovering from a cold I bring thee an update. He weighs in a a sharp 6k triangles and his weapon, of which he will wield two, rolls in nicely at 500 triangles. Crits are always welcome... tho im expecting few..

Tis with sword and axe that our ancient race drums the sound of war.

the texture is coming out cool man.. for some reason I think id like to see the straw pony tail purplish color or maybe just a color equally as saturated as the other colors.... but that's just me, i'm liking this guy,

I think if you render this guy with a 50% gray background it will be easier to see and show the model
