Pingu’s day is a short humorous tale of penguin family living somewhere on the North Pole. Pingu is head of the family.
Our story takes place in ever frozen arctic surroundings and in its own special and humorous way unveils unseen, secretive and yet recognizable penguin’s life in this remote part of the world with all its delights and sorrows.
All characters in this story are fictions. Any resemblance with actual events or persons are possible (Perhaps right on this day or in this moment.)

hmmm.. I dont now, just only name... no trade mark I thing..
02 February 2003, 06:03 PM
i thought things like that were always trademarked/copywrite protected...

yes, that's definitely true!
copyrights are automatically generated everytime somebody accomplishes some sort of creative performance, the result of which is a concrete piece of work. :shame:

Pingu's official response in wav format: Noot noot! (http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~anthonyc/ben/pingu/sounds/mawk.wav)
You really have to consider changing the name of that project. Pingu (the original) Is a CLASSIC, even up here as far as Canada. (I believe Its originally from Switzerland.) I even own some rare Pingo merchandise. The chocolate is a bit old though :)
No offense, but when I saw this thread, I was hoping that they werent going to destroy the series by trying a CG knock off. The original claymation 5 minutes shorts are GREAT. He's such a cute character. Please do the original a huge favor and change the title. I've just watched the trailer, and luckily there is no reference to "Pingu" in any lipsync, so it should be as easy as a title change. Other than that it looks good. Sorry to be harsh.
And finally, The original theme for hardcore Pingo fans (http://www.geocities.com/EnchantedForest/5681/pingutheme.au)

I did not intend to interfere with Pingu sitcom as my creation is called “Pingu’s day not Pingu. We have chosen this name regardless of your Pingu series (non of us have ever seen the soap opera before) Try to look up the word “pingu” on the internet and you will by surprised by results you receive. (also IMHO opinion “pingu” is simply commonplace contraction of “penguin” and as such can hardly by considered a copyright. Likewise my surname is “MAX” and I can hardly demand on 3DS Max to change name of their well established product.

the fact that they're both animations about penguins called Pingu, and one has been established for about 10 years and the other hasn't, might just alert the copywrite lawyers... Pingu is © Hit Entertainment PLC

It's your choice Max-R. I realise your creation is different, but the fact is that "the" Pingu is very well known in most of Europe, Japan, and Canada. There's tons of Pingu merchandise out there, books, toys, key chains, teaching aids for schools... I typed Pingu into Google and the vast majority linked to Pingu (C) Hit Entertainment
You're probably right that "Pingu" is a common contraction of penguin, but do you really want to risk having to argue that with lawyers? It might be worth compromising on your choice of name to avoid confusion and/or legal wrangles.

hmm... I will thinking about it...
03 March 2003, 10:34 PM

03 March 2003, 01:07 PM
dont victimize it... its only stupid penguin...
03 March 2003, 01:23 PM
hey! less of the stupid!! :)
