View Full Version : Dominance War II: Daemon3d
02 February 2007, 08:35 PM
My first competition on cgsociety.
The first attempt, I think not absolutely late. :deal:
She is ancient assassin, very brutal woman. :D
"Let Mortal Kombat begin"
Here is one initial sketch with winning pose
not finished yet:
the first concept (http://daemon3d.com/tmp/War/Axblade_W_Pose_F.jpg)

Awesome sketch Daemon, glad to see you in :D
Looking forward to see your progress on this killer girl .
02 February 2007, 04:28 AM
This is a wonderful. I hope to see more of this.
02 February 2007, 04:57 AM
very cool design so far,
i'd be a little concerned with how she'd be able to wield that massive... blade thing...
with the way you've designed the anatomy so far, the range of motion for the "under" arms would be quite restricted. she'd have the same problem with her left "under" arm wielding the sword
looking forward to seeing how this turns out

02 February 2007, 11:10 AM
i dig all your work dude, cant wait to see how you pull this one off.
If i had to nitpick id say id be nicer if the second set of arms connected a litle lower on the body rather than right ontop of each other im just thinking waht would 2 sets of scapulas look like piled on ?
but blah doesnt matter, very cool concept and start.
02 February 2007, 04:07 PM
nice concept and color theme. i do like the design on her legs.:)
however, its hard to visualize how she will swing the two swords and the dual bladed staff at the same time.
02 February 2007, 04:44 PM
very nice concept and color scheme
Like mentioned above, the range of motion of the second pair of arms seems limited and unpractical.
Other than that, that concept is for me the most appealing so far.
02 February 2007, 07:49 PM
Unreal concept art, we wait for continuation, good luck comrade!
02 February 2007, 08:00 PM
this is favorite entry for the contest dude i keep an eye on this trhead.
02 February 2007, 09:14 PM
I love the design...good work!
02 February 2007, 09:21 PM
I love the design...good work!
02 February 2007, 11:13 PM
Another Deadly Cutie, how exciting ^^ Keep up the great work, I'll be watching this for sure!
02 February 2007, 04:19 AM
Oh, thanks guys for criticism!
The second hands it was a bad idea.
Reconcept of this character...
I long thought and have refused the second hands. It will be the usual human.
The main weapons: bow with arrows and steel claws.
But it not archer, she still assassin. :D
02 February 2007, 04:37 AM
great sketch. you got good drawing skills :)
anyways, i think the upper arms are little too bare right now. i suggest some sort of bracelet around the bicep may be. also how would she handle those arrows with those claws?
btw, i did like some of the design elements on the first sketch
02 February 2007, 04:50 AM
I'll think about it. Claws can be quickly detachable. May be a big glove or knuckle blades. Dunno :D
02 February 2007, 06:10 AM
Woo nice drawing! I see you have a changed some elements of the girl's gear in the second drawing. Somehow I like the first one better. But maybe drop the two smaller swords, that would settle how somehow one small framed like her could handle a big sword :D
But keep the 'eye shadow' around the eyes. Very nice :D
02 February 2007, 10:30 AM
I shall combine these two concepts in one. Some elements from the old version I shall add in new.
The finished concept will be with bow, knuckle blades or sword.
Here is color sketch concept of the face:
And screen shot with high resolution upper body.
02 February 2007, 11:46 AM
And a very nice sculpt! No comments for now, but keep it going fellow!
02 February 2007, 04:00 PM
great wrok on the design and sculpt work man, i like your first concept better then the other, maybe its more original, anyway, very good job!
02 February 2007, 05:10 PM
Graet start and the redesign is better. Keep it up!
02 February 2007, 10:07 PM
ну ты крут )))
02 February 2007, 01:49 AM
very cool modeling dude i love it. i really like the other hands but is your concept dude.
02 February 2007, 02:14 AM
02 February 2007, 08:39 AM
Its coming along nice...
02 February 2007, 11:08 AM
Dude this is going gr8... I will be chking this out regularly.... gr8 stuff.... concept and head.
02 February 2007, 04:27 PM
Thanks a lot Guys.
Keep on work, however hard it sometimes!
Now high resolution model, not finished yet.
Some objects will be by native modeling not sculpting, such as ribbons, laces, etc
Here is two screen shots of main body (xsi shot):
02 February 2007, 11:12 AM
Serious, brawny girl...
With impatience wait for continuation!
02 February 2007, 11:00 PM
Wow, go go go. Both concept and scupt are looking fantastic, you 've some great talents dude. Subscribed and looking forward to updates!
02 February 2007, 11:14 PM
I like everything but the highplatform shoes :)
03 March 2007, 02:13 AM
I dig it! :)
03 March 2007, 07:14 PM
wow man, that face is freaking beautiful! i'd say her arms and clavicle are a tad manish fo rmy taste... maybe toning them down, keep her in the sexy realm, esp with the beautiful littl ebaby fat on her face.. you'd figure that would carry through the rest.
03 March 2007, 08:00 PM
You are absolutely right!
It has been made for elegancy, power of the character, not functionality.
I have already corrected it, so little.
But I think of other difficulties, a choice of the weapon :D
03 March 2007, 09:55 PM
woah! I loove the concept painting! The sculpting's really sweet too! the only weird thing is that strap that holds the corset - it's just not attatched to it really... Can't wait to see her textured!:bounce:
03 March 2007, 07:03 PM
Hello, thx again.
Back to old concept with little reconcept.:D
Weapons concepts is finished.
Another update hi res model, above 10 million triangles.
Time to low polygon and textures.
03 March 2007, 08:41 PM
Great modeling. The characters face really mirrors the concept well. Probably getting too microscopic, but something about the shoulder looks strange, not sure what. Anyways, good luck.
03 March 2007, 09:57 PM
Yeah, this girls pretty damn hot. Great work so far!
03 March 2007, 10:01 PM
The model is looking really nice. I love the snake head on the shoulder armor. Can't wait to see the final model.
03 March 2007, 10:51 PM
looking really nice man. Only thing, would be nice if the skull thing or the snake thing was implemented into the shield or weapon. Help to bring those pieces into the character more.
03 March 2007, 12:30 AM
man, nice update. how do you handle 10 mil poly. what software, any hints ?
i really like the face and the legs. the proportions of the torso and the breasts seem a little off i think. looking forward to textures which i know you will do a great job.
03 March 2007, 04:28 PM
Reconcept stunned! =)
03 March 2007, 05:25 PM
looking sweet - I like the weapon too!
03 March 2007, 08:58 AM
Thanks all for the replies.
mashru it's XSI, the best of the best.
With maya, max, etc there would be a crash out of memory,:D but not with xsi.
I shall make a little massive her torso. Thanks
Low resolution model, not optimized yet:
03 March 2007, 10:45 AM
Amazing)...U just kick ass...nothing more 2 say.keep it up :wip: wanna c the textures)
03 March 2007, 10:28 PM
The weapon, is almost ready and already has: 992 Tris, Color map, Specular map, Specular Color, Normal Map, Reflection Map (2048 Resolution)
03 March 2007, 11:33 PM
like those weapons! with that texturework, i am really interested to see what you can bring forth for the character. Truly one of my cgtalk favorite
03 March 2007, 09:20 PM
Good job so far, I think the shield might be a little too noisy, but other then that it looks great, keep it up!
03 March 2007, 10:40 PM
argh, my posting get lost...ok, here again :(
i like your concept very much!
i´m missing the ancient theme a bit (maybe here weapons), but it looks cool - so what ;)
the model looks nice too - i just would flesh out her hip a bit more, give her nice curves - at the moment it looks very straight.
i wished so much that you would use your strong drawing/ painting skills for the texture work and go more into a similar direction as your face close up (concept).
i think that you are giving away much potential by choosing a technical and realistic direction which most of the competitors will do too and that has no own touch and feel, whithout using your painterly background to push your work out of the crowd.
maybe i´m judging too early - i just saw your weapons and thought - oh no - why? ;)
i´m anxious to see the progression...
03 March 2007, 08:14 PM
Whoa.. deadline is coming soon! :D
The diffuse map is almost ready, but still in progress.
Here is a little of changes in design :argh:
the boots, hairstyle with pony tails are changed.
03 March 2007, 08:25 PM
nice update, there seems to be some smoothing group issues around the boots and the fabric in her hands. besides that i think the spurs dont fit the over all concept. also i think you can pump up the normal map details over all and specially in the hair. if this were to be used in a game engine you would probably mipmap or lod and then those details would be lost.
03 March 2007, 12:26 PM
Super upd, success in final! :)
03 March 2007, 02:28 PM
If you have the time to bring the same level of texturing to the character as you have done with the weapons it is going to look seriously bangin. Good job man. Keep it up.
03 March 2007, 07:14 AM
Ah great detailing! *mouth starts foaming*
No crit except finish it :D
03 March 2007, 08:00 AM
Really nice forms in her body. Love those curves :)
Really looking forward to seeing the rest of the diffuse texturing. The snake head looks great! Would you consider darkening the rivets on that shoulder pad a bit to help them stand out a bit more or perhaps add some dirt/shadows around the base of them in the corners?
03 March 2007, 05:49 PM
Thanks a lot guys.
The test render with lighting for "Winning Pose".
Some Texture maps is a little in progress, but almost finished.
Here is scanlaine render with native lights.
Now there are maps: Diffuse, Specular, Glossiness, Normal, Transparency.
Tomorrow I shall upload completely a figure.
mashru, thx but it's not smoothing group, it's a bad normal map quality -)
I'll tweakig it.
Spurs? dunno, I think she is horse-woman. :D
mattcoombe, thx I'll do it.
03 March 2007, 09:28 PM
The weapon again, new variant:
03 March 2007, 09:31 PM
oh man this is looking great,
great work as always dmitry!
keep it up.
03 March 2007, 01:28 AM
I have been watching this thread since the beginning, cant wait to c the winning pose.....finally!
03 March 2007, 07:20 AM
Wow great texture! A few crits. The area where the leather binds the equipment to the skin need some darkening around there. Looks like just loosely wrapping over it instead of secured tightly.
The purple armor plates seems to be rather sudden. The weapon hasn't got much, the shield has desaturated purple. Perhaps try to match back the purple on the shield?
No more crit, great work!
03 March 2007, 04:58 PM
heh. That's pretty sweet. Boobs are a little weird in shape, but overall a really nice looking model.
03 March 2007, 05:31 PM
Very amazing work! Comrade you rule! :buttrock:
03 March 2007, 11:42 AM
Thanks all for feedback!
Sorry guys, I have no time for answers.
Update: The Winning pose(scanline render) is almost finished and I'm going to additional images.
ohh... :wip: :banghead:
03 March 2007, 06:55 PM
:argh: finished :banghead:
03 March 2007, 08:41 PM
Cool finish, great work :)
Зы Ты написал что размер всех текстур две тысячи, но на оружие ограничение тысяча двадцать четыре... Опечатка или нет? ))
03 March 2007, 09:21 PM
Beautiful Work, that's all I have to say.
03 March 2007, 11:25 PM
nice work, this is definitely a winner. good beauty shot
03 March 2007, 07:59 AM
Very qualitative work! Good luck in the final!
03 March 2007, 03:52 PM
Magnificent work! Alive look, correct anatomy and certainly excellent artwork.
It is looked very expressively!
03 March 2007, 06:30 PM
looking good man, if only one crit. please add more lash to the texture or somewhere, even paint it on if you have to, I think it would really help to kick it up a notch.
03 March 2007, 06:40 PM
Amazing render. It's hard to tell it's not a painting. Great model, good luck.
