View Full Version : Converting TP velocity to speed

does anyone have any tips on taking the velocity port of a PGetData node and converting it to a speed value? I'd like to trigger a storm based on the speed of particles which are being slowed by a PFreeze node over age.

well speed part of velocity is the lenght of the vector so use a distance node to get the speed =)

You don't even need the distance node, Xpresso doas automatic conversion between vectors and reals. If you connect the Velocity vectory of a particle with a real port the transfered value will be the length of the vector. If you want to do this explicitly just use an universal adapter set to real.

well thats something new to learn so thanx, to bad help doesnt mention it specificly it just states that it does convert types, an example there would be nice thou :) ...or maybe i missed it then.. anyway nice thing to know...
