here are some early concepts for my dominance war entry, this will possibly be a joint entry, depends on what my collaborator chooses to do.

possibly spruce her up a little later, with more of an ancient royalty vibe.
this was an interesting thing that came to me before we did the girl. gotta make it look less like a chicken though.

update: a little bit of solo work, she's got a rocket embedded into her back, hoping to get my partner in crime to make a pass at it and make her a little more animal looking.

Sorry if this gets posted twice - ran into maintenance when I tried to post X-D

I'm the potential partner/concept collaborator. I fiddled with the girl above today and came up with this, though if this gets used things may be moved around and reworked, as always. I was asked to post this when I had the chance. :-)

helmet is a lot more bird-like now - good job on that.

does the sword detach from the shield? Seems it would make for awkward fighting if it doesnt. And is it a primary weapon or something else will be there?

The sheild and sword is more of a concept than permanent placement. Her other arm is by her side so you can't really see what weapons she might have.

My maybe-partner mentioned some sort of energy weapon, so the sword or scythe or whatever gets put there would be plasma or something similar, so there wouldn't be physical storage issues. Not sure if it will be a primary weapon.

The sheild I thought would work the same way, turning "on" and "off" rather than being a solid object she carries around all the time, though admittedly it should be on the opposite arm that the weapon is on. Was just for design idea purposes thus far. Would come out better in color concept with the glowing and stuff. :-)

what is this "maybe-partner" sh*t; quit dilliedallieing and put down your gloves. Cuz you don't want to dirty those nice clean gloves with your blood after CGChat is done with you!

a wee bit of brainstorming, trying to keep the thought of not doing the obvious in mind. let me know whats needs to live, and what should die. i gotta do something about my screen ratio, everything looks so much thinner away from the widescreen laptop.:shrug:

are these alternatives to the other helmet? I'd incorporate some of the lines from the other one into these two helmets to tie it together with the armor

could be ritual scarring in the bare scalp version.

yeah I'm giving the character a once-over to try and bring in some of the things that my partner did, as well as adding some new stuff to the fold, these helmets are being changed as we speak, I'm trying to mess with ways to place her "eyes" that dont fall in line with the norm. the current iteration is influenced by a tarantula

I agree. I like the helmet design she has.
She seems to be very graceful. I feel like her fighting style would reflect that. Maybe some soft flowing silk cloth would be nice secondary motion. (Just a thought)

I like the motion and agility she has in the initial concept. I think that her legs should be lightweight. (Not too much armor)
The knee pad section looks like it would get in her way for her style of fighting.
Maybe if it was broken up on her thigh and shin, leaving the knee to flex as needed.

thanks for the comments guys, she's coming along, hopefully principal modeling will be done today and some unwrapping goodness to come tonight. i thank the dominance war gods that we've got another week, finishing up wont be such a gargantuan task now.

I'm not such a big fan of prostetic legs, to be honest. I think the shin guards you have in your concept drawing are interesting enough.

yet another slight update on my entry, working on hi res at the moment and wanted to block in textures to help with the thought process. these next few nights are gonna be LONG ones.

Good to see textures coming in. I am working on my textures and my beauty shot. My stand is going to be simple i think.

It looks like the unwrapping went well due to the straightness of the lines.
Can't wait to see more.
