I couldn't figure out how to get the Join page to work, so I figure I would just start a thread and figure out the rest later...

Hope I'm not breaking some sort of rule...

Here we go... Scanning and sketching started... I want to do some demolishing type of creature/beast... something that is instructed to destroy and does so... These are some quick first run ideas...

I like the upper left one in the first page and the lower left one in the second page the most.

The fourht one on the first page, sofar it pretty unique, If it had armour I think it would be quite formidable.

A little character description...

name: MaksimIvanovDescription: The monster of monsters. No one knows of his actual origin, many speculate that his family's exposure to radioactive chemicals mutated his body. As an adult he got involved with Military service where war changed him forever. In exchange for victory he took up the armor and weaponry of the destroyer. He shows no mercy.

More sketches.... trying out many variations before I go forward...

WOW They are all impressive - wouldn't want to go up against any of them. Right now my favorites are pages 1 and 2 bottom right corners.

well they all look pretty scary and worthy of war to me, but i have to say i like top right first page and bottom right second page. really like the stylised size of his arms compared to his bottom half.
keep it up dude, lets see some more.

these sketches are awesome.... I agree with what's been said, big torso guy is cool - although I think I like him better in the orig sketch sheet than in the more recent one. I'm also partial to bottom-left guy on the second sheet of sketches.

Look forward to seeing more!

I figure before I go to start modeling, or think of modeling, I'll do a clean-up pass, and a color pass on a few favorites...

Mostly so I can start think about if the design is even possible with the poly limits!

Which one you will chose? I personally would prefere the last one,
because the concept got some great dynamic in its pose.

I thought about doing hours and hours of labourous painting, but figured I would do a quicker more comic style of coloring so I can switch out colors quickly till I'm satisfied!

ChrRambow: Thanks, I've not completely settled on which I am going to do for sure... I'm leaning towards this guy... mostly because the anatomy on the other is going to be a beast...

stimpack: You guys were bound to be better than I... But I still got some tricks in me...

I haven't done much, but I figure I should post something, so I don't forget I should be working on something for the competition... Not much to see yet, at least you know I'm starting from nothing...

I'm at about 2900 triangles... haven't really thought much about limits, etc... that is including my new head progress... Figure I would add a head so it wouldn't look to empty behind the shades, and because I have the polys to do it I believe...

I lied... did some work on the shield... thought I would share... I am going to zbrush soon though... I swear!

I've almost fallen of the planet here... I decided to do a little more modeling, and not zbrushing yet... Needed to still refine and change some design elements...

The middle resolution model is about done... then I can work on the Hi-res zbrush model...
