the second one (the sketch with the horns) is for the shoulders or maybe the chest armour.

Latest update on the concept.
I'm not a good concept artist, but I've done my best to get my ideas into a 2D.
There are a couple of things that I'm thinking bout to change them, so let see how the model evolves. I'll start the modelling later this week.

Looks too similar to the concept art in the "art of guild wars: nightfall" book, you may want to explore some more variations before you begin modeling. I do like the theme on the leg plates and would like to see it repeated on the upperbody, especially the shoulder pads.

There really never is 'new' concept art, it's really just the same few themes over and over again arranged in slightly different ways.
IT always amuses me when I hear people saying 'oh that bit looks like a bit from some other concept'
I challenge anyone to design something new, no part of which has ever been seen before.
It's very, very rare that you see a new paradigm, a totally new design language.

I guess that there are some similarities...
but it's not the first concept of an ancient powerfull breed with armour, cape, sceptre and dark tones palette.
OK, maybe is not the most original thing ever... but we have seen this dark creatures since Lord Sidious (Star Wars Emperor).

I've seen that the rest of the entries have similarities, as well, with some art works that I've seen in the past years.

I've never played Guild Wars and I've never seen this book, so I think that all of us are influenced by the art works that we see and when we have to create something we just do what we like and remains in our minds.

anyway, I'll stay quite close to the concept, maybe i'll change something in the modelling or sculpting process (improvisation!).

doesnt look guildswar-ish to me in anyway except perhaps the techniques/treatment..and there's hardly anything wrong with that. Nice design--feels very old and outerworldly

Definitely I have to change a few things…

But I’ll stay close to some of them, like the face, cape, sceptre, pieces of amour, glowing inside…

It’s a nice concept, but I don’t think that these things (cape, sceptre, pieces of amour, glowing inside…) belong to anybody. I think is a very common design and a very common pose.

Anyway, thanks to bring it up, I’ll try something different for a couple of things.

check out the judges section of the dominance war, one of them is the art director and lead concept artist on guild wars so I'd be very careful if I were you. I know it is not my place to be telling you these things but why risk the consequences?

I'll do another sketch from the front perspective with some different proportions because I want to make it stronger, but I hope that this doesn't bring me hulk's images. And if I do it more technological I hope not to find images from xmen...

There is always something similar.
I can see Sam Fisher from splinter cell all around and ppl don't change their concepts.

btw, I thought that the director/designer (or whatever) of Guild Wars was Feng Zhu... (at least at some point of the first release)
