Here's the Front Man; with his customized Plasma Cannon (originally designed for vehicles) he creates his own path through his enemies' buidlings... and habitually tallies any unlucky casualties on his gun side. The Front Man tunnels his way to the heart of the force to take out key strategic points, then clean them up from the inside-out.

Rougher areas will be fleshed out throughout modeling process.

Looking good so far man, ass kicker gun for sure! Give him a slight sun burn when you get to texturing, up his exposed arm, this gun has gotta be originally designed for a battle tank or something. Mega powerful.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm still sketching out a few concepts for his backpack, which I think will be an ammo system for his gun. Hopefully I'll start a bit of modelling later today or tomorrow.

I started getting the proxy model done, which I will eventually up-res to create my lowpoly model. I'm still concepting in different connection pieces in 3d and photoshop, but figured it's been a while since I've showed my progress... I plan to have his backpack holster some ammo vials for his cannon, as well as having some asymmetry in his armour.

@Gkaine: I was hoping you'd be entering this competition as well... you must be busy because this is right up your alley. Hope to make you proud Joe.

@Nikudy: Since the Frontman has customized his cannon, the blast is a bit too powerful for the gun to stay in one piece after repetitive firing. I plan on having the metal charred and fraying at its extremity.

It seems like you got a lot of polygons free to spent for details.

How many tris .... does your model got.
I guess about 3000?

Thanks for all your comments, much appreciated! It's going a little slower now that we're in the weekdays but I'm still working on the lowpoly. I'm adding more detail and its still only about 3500 polys, so I have much to go... also have an extra 1000 for that cannon as well. After that, I'll be doing the hardbody highpoly in 3dsMax and the organic pieces in Zbrush. Come on weekend!

I'm pretty much done the low poly and will be moving on to unwrapping, and then the highpoly model. I'll eventually model in some planes for hair/fur once I begin my texture work. The character is at 5466 tris and the weapon has 990 tris, so I have a little bit to play around with. I may add more geo in the boots of the normal map doesn't pull off what I want.

@infin8_1ne: I haven't thought too much on the colour palette, but he'll most likely be cooler/desaturated colours.

@agasco: Great to see you entered yourself, I'll be watching yours as well.

Cool man, I like this proportions for a front man, i think you could try to make his legs even more slim, it could look cool like that; The gun looks awesome and very destructive ;), no critic man, waiting for the high res

Hey Adam! Sweet to see you on something new... I like the concept [unlike the guys who favour the gun I have to say his shoes have drawn my particular attention LOL I like the furry trimming and that organic feel which sort of contrasts the more mechanical feel of the rest of the character! I know the textures will rock. Can't wait!:bounce:]

Nice lowpoly mesh! I like the concept, especially the pose. Looks really dynamic. One thing I've been wondering and I saw you post on other threads and you seem to know what you're doing.. so I thought I would ask you - on the briefing it says the 6000 tris is for the body only. Any armor and weapons are included with the 1000 tri's. Am I just confused because most people seem to be including armor with the 1000 tri's as well. I could totally be reading it wrong... which is most likely the case, but I thought I would clarify.

Thanks for the very kind comments guys. I'm sorry to say but I won't be finishing this in time for the competition... I don't want to rush it and I really wanted to nail down the texturing if I were to finish it.

I'm quite sure its 6000 tris for the character, 1000 tris for weapon and/or ammo attachments.
