Final entry on page 3!

lastest updates:

hello everyone!

finally the sub-forum is online!
I must say I found the ancients theme quite diffucul to develop.. is diffucult not to fall on stargate clichès, damn!

well, these are the first ideas and thumbs:

then i developed the last one:

but well... not much "ancient" i think (tough i like how the proportions came out.. bio-engineering work FTW  )
about the background she can be a new race of soldier, created in some hidden laboratory in a frozen planet... and finally clonated to get the dirt work done, in the dominance war II..

hmm.. must work more on this one..

good luck all! :D

EDIT: huh.. i forgot.. those tentacles are some kind of artificial sensors, and those things on the back are some kind of weapons (maybe futuristic boomerangs or swords or rifles..)
she is mainly a stealth soldier, infiltration, assassination and all that stuff..

Neat Idea, I always love when a character has something that can just kinda flow around with their movements or sticks off them like cloth, tenticles, and such. Those tenticles coming off the arms have some real coolness potential I think haha.

I think pretty much anything can be 'ancient' just convince yourself of it! heh looks ancient enough to me atleast.

02 February 2007, 01:49 AM
yeah, I know what you mean. I'm trying to think up something that doesn't look like a bash of LOTR and Gundam. Arrghh!:argh: I've got to say, I really like that bottom sketch on your first sheet. Good luck!

02 February 2007, 09:46 PM
heh thanks! :)

hmm, maybe ill'make her clothes more elegant and simple, less military looking (she's a superior being after all, elegance is pretty important! ;P )

for now i started blocking out the main shapes (for hi-poly sculpting), trying to mantain a good lineflow... but there's still a lot of work to do on the face
(i also made the head a little bigger 'cause in the concept it's very smaaaall :scream: )

comments and critics welcome!

Looks like a good start. The head enlargement looks like a good idea too!

I hope you plan to keep the elongated body look though, that's pretty neat.

02 February 2007, 12:11 PM
THere's something interesting about the super lankyness of it though, with the small head.

You could ofset the svery tall body by having a huge plume of hair (going upwards against gravity?, or some sort of radial thing?) Might be something to experiment with.

02 February 2007, 12:15 PM
thanks again!

yeah, elongated body rocks! :scream:
about the head size, i don't know.. i tried getting it smaller again and it wasn't bad (i didn't saved tough) will resize later, after the rest of the body is done..

i redesigned almost the entire armor, made it more evil and hi-tech..
it can be an armor with artificial intelligence, in perfect symbiosis with the entire body (the main processing unit is that big collar around the neck, with other secondary units in legs and arms)
the tentacles are like cats whiskers, full of sensors that scan the surrounding enviroment, and the tip is provided with micro-sub-tentacles that can connect to every computer interface, for hacking purposes :deal:

the new concept sheet:

and the 3d so far:

a quick montage to re-establish proportions:

(why in the sketches small head looks cool, and in 3d looks weird? )

02 February 2007, 01:27 PM
Man, I loved this proportions, although they don't look natural, they have a lot of personality. I love long people, like top models, and your concept is more or less on this line. She looks pretty good.
I think you could make her torso a bit longer and put her breats a little bit up. And that's it.

02 February 2007, 10:55 PM
this is very cool. i love the concept itself.

02 February 2007, 04:52 AM
This is indeed an awsome design! She has something out of this world... great stuff! :)

02 February 2007, 05:55 AM
That looks great! You might want to make her legs a bit shorter though, they seem just a bit too long. good luck with the modeling

I just wanted to chime in and say hi to a fellow lover of Blame!

I just wanted to chime in and say hi to a fellow lover of Blame!

hehehe :D

thanks for the comments..
just finished modeling torso and legs, slight change of proportions (again!)..
arms coming next! (and i hate modeling fingers.. argh!)

nice original concept. This one has much potential. Modeling's looking good too. I'm keeping an eye on this.

02 February 2007, 11:45 PM

begin sculpting:

02 February 2007, 12:45 AM
is lloking good dude.

02 February 2007, 12:51 AM
looking good. Though this may be unintentional, I see some similiarities between your character and that of Lady Deathstrike.

02 February 2007, 01:22 AM
That's a pretty freaky sculpt, nice job.

I see the Lady Deathstrike resemblance, too. I hope you'll have some swaying hair, a few masked polys for the fringe.

02 February 2007, 11:43 AM
ahahaha.. i was searching for half an hour for lady deathstrike's entry on dominance war forums.. didn't know she was a marvel character :D

yes there are similarities but they are truly unintentional :)

02 February 2007, 12:01 AM
begin hi-res sculpting.. hope i didn't make it too complex for the low-res mesh
(and hope some little ugly mistakes won't appear in a 2048x2048 normal map :D )

02 February 2007, 06:55 PM
going on sculpting..

02 February 2007, 02:00 AM
very nice man...

03 March 2007, 12:10 PM
yay! maybe with the deadline extension i could finish it in time! :D

well.. i finished sculpting, low res optimizing, mapping and now i'm working on the textures
i found this color scheme that i kinda like (altough it has nothing to do with cgsociety colors), and the golden specular looks a lot "ancient" (oh well, actually it was a random effect :) ). but still something is missing.. i was thinking about ancient alien writings all over the armor, or maybe tatoos..

ps. *sigh*.. those flat tubes around the neck are sooo baaaad..

03 March 2007, 01:45 AM
ow.. so sad nobody replied
anyway.. almost finished texturing.. the next thing is rigging and maybe the weapon (hope to make in time, will do something very simple)

03 March 2007, 03:17 AM
Man, its beautiful, looks like a toy, in a good way, pretty good modeling...

03 March 2007, 07:35 AM
The armor style, proportions, drop dead man she is too cool, love her.

03 March 2007, 08:32 PM
heh thanks! :D
today i rigged her... a lot of stress but it seems ok now
tried a quick pose and a quick rendering

03 March 2007, 02:58 PM
really love this style, it has so much personality. The only thing that bothers me is the way her arm join her torso. Maybe you could cover this area with some extra armor?

03 March 2007, 04:14 AM
thanks for the tip, but well.. i'm sorry it's too late to modify the hires modeling
(there are other things that bother me too, like the hair -it's the first time i model hair- will do better next time :D)
thank you anyway :)

today i finished texturing the weapon and did the pedestal
tomorrow winning pose render and hopefully final upload!
i'm soo tired (it's like 5am here now  ) but that's war after all :D

03 March 2007, 11:58 AM
it's oooveeeer! :scream:
these are my final entries
enjoy! and good luck to everyone!

and now let's wait for the results

03 March 2007, 01:24 PM
Turned out really awesome! If I was a judge you'd definately be top 3 on our forum, probably first imo. Good Luck!
