again on eldar????
i'm becoming a fan!
next model is a wraithguard, meant to be played in a first person shooter, like UT or Quake!
i know out there, there are some models already...
it will be hard but i'll try doing better!!!!

you should stop by a games workshop and pick up the warhammer 40k elder play book those books have tons of awsome pictures in there... of course its pricey for a book though.
the model looks like its coming nicely :)
i can't wait to see them textured.

yester night after rigging the character (and studying) i was so tired i started playing with renders & shaders...
i'll heve to texturize it sooner or later...
(here is a render with Ink'n Paint and a meshsmooth... nothing important)
still i think this character could fit in a comic huh?
(too much study will burn your brain, just like mine :D )

My favourit coloration would be Black and White with some gold edges. And a start at his left eye, like in clockwork orange ;)
These are also the colours I use. :p

i found a cool scheme in black and white...
anyway i'm not sure what u mean with eye...
maybe u mean the gems on the head huh...

1. could you show the skin?
2. I read my last reply in here and I also misunderstood it ;) . It was unneccesary (dificult word)
3. Can you make the skinmesh or Texturemap (I don't know properly what it is called. I mean the black/white wires where you draw on) public.
Only to practise and show ideas?

the model is very kewl, dont know about the contrast.. but... its too much cartoon, is that what you are trying to do?

I feel like a jerk suggesting it, but isnt his anatomy not like normal eldar wraith guards? Unless they were robotic. Im uber rusty on it. But I thought eldar were actually thin people in metal suits... I was really under that impression. Your model is insanely cool, but Im just one of those guys who looks and looks for something to crit on and all I can think of is that maybe his suit doesnt match how it would normally be. It's a really good model. I havent even read a warhammer 40k codec story or anything in ages, I hardly remember a single detail for the eldar. and they were even my favorite. well, this looks reaalllyyy cool. I wish I could say I made it. later anyways :D

i'd like to post the last (slight) changes like alpha on the fabric, more details on the feet, some more renders and poses, and so on...
but my website is locked until 30 of march!!!!
(damn..! :cry: )
meanwhile i'll answer you!
first: wraithguards are not real living eldar, but are robots which have a dead eldar warrior soul in their gem (the bigger one on the chest)
there is a bigger and nastier version (4 meters tall), the WraithLord (i think i'll model it soon), which holds the soul of a nobleman eldar.
colours are contrasted and cartoon quite on purpose... well it's not completely realistic but i wanted to imitate somehow the physical models i painted myself with brush and acrylic :bounce:
i'll post in the submission some photographs
i saw some more gloomy model on the web (polycount) and didn't really like it much that's all ...:shrug:
i don't think i'll get a high score in this comp... there are so many beautiful models!
anyway... it's been a pleasure. Lots of motivation, lots of things i've learnt...
i'll try to post on monday...

i love wh40k... well i dont play... but the art work of John Blanche is great and the models they do are very good too. I hop your planning to make a Dreadnaught? :p

Cool model. It would be cool with a fps 40k computer game sometime. Like driving rhinos droping of marines to attack some orcs or chaos :P.
