now that is cool!
if you right click while viewing the examples, you get a camera toolset.. you can zoom, move and rotate... all while its realtiming... wow... this is neato

Great ain't it? :) Wish there was a Lightwave plugin for it but...
Blender3D has support for real time 3D but nothing like that, and Blender is difficult to learn...

VRML is sort of close, but doesn't do sub patching. Check out the VRML Export options in lightwave

This cant be done in Lightwave, but lightwave can export your model as Shockwave3D file which you can use and make a application just like that one in Macromedia Director if you have the software.

For interactive 3d using Lightwave have a look at AxelEdge:
They house Lightwave scenes natively and there are tons of publishing and interactive features.
I can't speak for the product personally in a production environment but I have been keeping my eye on them. I got a free commercial version of 1 (no lightwave import) by purchasing computer arts magazine a couple of months ago. Haven't had time to play with it as of yet.
I have discovered a few others in my research but this seems to be the best value.
The technology looks very promising.
