View Full Version : Tablet PCs for Artists?
01-15-2007, 01:21 AM
I'm been thinking about buying a tablet pc to take things like photoshop painter and sketchbook on the road with me. I'm not too keen on paying twice as much on a system that's portible that may not be as good as what I could buy for home at half that. I don't need the newest bestest techonology, just what works well.
So the question is is there anybody here with a tablet pc that they use for art which they're just in love with? I've been browsing the net for info, but nothing is really geared towards artists it seems like.

Evil The Cat,
A great way to search the forums (cgsociety or any forum) is by using Google:
site:cgsociety.org "tablet pc" (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Acgsociety.org+%22tablet+pc%22&btnG=Google+Search)
From that search, this looks like a good one:
Is there a TabletPC that's a decent tablet? (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=359963)
Check out the other search results as well. :)
I don't personally own a tablet pc, so I can't be of much help beyond that. Good luck! :)

I used to love my Toshiba M205, it has a great surface to draw on and is quick enough for any painting software. But, I can't stand Windows, at all! So I use my wacom and iMac now, it dose everything better and cost less. Tablets screens are on the small side, kinda hard to see colors on mine because of the screen protection too. But when they came out, I just had to have one! :)

Tablet have always been ludicrous in their demands, delays, heat, etc. (check out what's happnin at electrovaya.com, tho). I do hear the Toshiba is worth a look, but NOT.
Its NARWT--- not a real working tool.
When would Apple do a tablet? I hope soon! But then, I've been waiting ten years to draw on my lap like on a Cintiq!
So its STILL Wacom and iMac.
