View Full Version : Modeling a tent / clothilde

01-13-2007, 05:04 AM
Hi everybody,
I am wondering what people think the best way to model a tent would be?
I started using clothilde, but it seems kind of difficult to control- am I going in the wrong direction?

This is the tent I'm trying to model:

Hope I've given enough information, and any comments would be greatly appreciated!

In the time you tweaked that cloth you have modeled a tent city manually. Just use soft selection and push/pull ahead.

try modeling the basic mesh so that edges overlap the underlying rods which hold up the tent, then subdevide the whole mesh once, do some manual relaxing of the new points using the brush with a nice linear falloff, then some more subdeviding until you get the desired result.

Thanks guys, that is some good advice. I am implementing it ASAP. Normally I am not on the modeling end, but the texture and lighting end- kind of flailing about with this sort of thing.
