View Full Version : Nurbs Modelling Advice for Fins

Hello all,

For those of you who are interested, first a screenshot:

Now my question is...

Eventually this whole arm/fin will get attached to a body...

So that span of thin surface between the thumb and the forefinger...

Any suggestions about how to model that and get "socked" with the rest of the fish fin mesh? THe problem I am having now is that I am building it in halves - but when I attempt to globally stitch it all together or try to attach the mirrored surfaces, some whole isoparms just get folded over and do bizarre things - even if I build all the surfaces with a biral/boundary, clicking on the curves in the exact same order.

Anyway, I was thinking - perhaps if I built that thin fin area later and then used the convert to poly from NURBS, it might just find a way to get it in there without destroying the rest of the geometry...

Or what about doing a simple Union with the poly fin and that fin membrane?

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I've figured something out - basically, I have to do things in a somewhat strange order of socking, converting, combining poly meshes, etc., to get it to work right.

Oh, why didn't I do polygons? :P
