When i look in the docs i see that .psd files should be supported by mental ray (even layered files) But when i put one in the colormap and try to render it gives me this error:

// Result: Dropped lambert2 onto trex_obj:polySurface5_4 //
// Error: (Mayatomr.Output) : file error: E:/trex/trex_lvl1/trex_cavitymap.PSD //
// Error: (Mayatomr) : mental ray has stopped with errors, see the log //
// Info (Mayatomr): Aborted //
// Error: (mental ray) : E:/trex/trex_lvl1/trex_cavitymap.PSD: unrecognized file format, not an image file //

When i convert to bmp it works ok.
Is psd supported or not ? :shrug: On this page it says it does?

you did plug it through the "PSD File" node instead of the "File" node, did you?
it works nice here and we use it alot in texturing to get live updates in maya
while working in Photoshop... For final rendering ofcourse .map files rock :D
