I pretty much liked the shots on the fly. Question is, do you have a storyboard for this? If you do and this is just testing then itīs fine. If itīs not, then I think that some of the shots were way too long, and the cut to the camera on land is a little bit steep. (imho of course)

Other than those details, this is looking cool, the animations on plane look good. Iīd like to see what youīre gonna do with the trees and the clouds. Keep us updated.

Yes, I completely agree with you. When I looked again, I realized it was way to long and needed some cuts. So I have planned some added action and cuts to go along with it.

What was supposed to be one storyboard sketch turned into a painting - which has now turned into hand drawn 2D animation. It was supposed to be 3d/IK. My crew is growing impatient with me I think LOL.

I have sped up the run. One reason it seemed slow was the hand drawn animation was only sequenced at 15 fps. I have since resequenced it for 24 and its much quicker now. (2 meg)

I also reversed the cloud direction of movement (to close with the Zeros, which should increased their apparent speed) and increased the scale of the Zeros on their flyby. I think both those changes help add a bit more zest and drama to the shot. I will keep adding to this post I as I go. This is still only the beginning :)

I will post up the scene story board in a bit.

Hey, that cubic red looking fellaīs animation is coming pretty good. Iīm actually curious about what itīs gonna look like.

Also, donīt forget about the cut between the fly shots and the camera from the last video. It was showing a little steep.

Are you planning to make any 3d clouds? Not to cover the whole sky, just to make some pass by really close to the airplanes. It might help to seamlesly compose the airplanes with the sky. Just a thought.

Good idea. I will try to see what can do with that.

I am rethinking how to represent the moments between the run and the flyby.

This will be part of it. The run will be cut just before he starts to slow... then he will see the zeros', then dodge to the side and hide behind a bush. He will then watch the zeros flyby from behind the bush. When past he will resume his run off screen.

Not sure what angle I want for the "watching the flyby" cut, but I think from behind and over the shoulder as he peers between some branches. Then back to full scene as he resumes the run.

Tomorrow I will storyboard this sequence out.

This is for one cut just before the runner stops.

Hmmm... looking at the expression, I am thinking it might be more dramatic to have him neutral expression and go to frown then have him frowning and going to surprise as it is now.

I will give them both a try and see what occurs.

the plane animation is looking really great. Can't wait to see that with sound and final animation.

during the flyby test 2... the beginning maybe was a bit too long, also I wouldn't zoom in on the plane so close... maybe a bit less and have the plane a little bit more space to the frame in the direction it is traveling. Having it right in the center of the screen is a bit boring.

Storyboard looks great... can't wait to see an animatic for that.

I really like the emotion tests... they're all looking great... hope you can transfer them into your animation.

btw. your handwriting looks awesome... hehe

Hehe, yeah, the hand writing I had to erase and use type in PS. It looked worse than chicken scratches. :) In order to save time and paper, I scanned in a blank page from my storyboard notebook and then started redoing everything in PS.

I think the whole sequence in the second, longer test was quite off. It caused a number of viewers some confusion. So I am rethinking the best way to do that.
