View Full Version : Getting misss to work with single sufaces, i.e. leaves.

I finally figured out the reason only half my sufaces (leaves on a tree) were working with the misss shader is because the normals have to be facing the camera.

So now the question is, how do I make a hundred thousand surface normals all face the camera?

If anyone's interested I've solved the problem by reducing the flatness attr of the leaves, thereby giving them thickness and facing all the normals outwards.

Unfortunately this triples the poly count, so if anyone has a solution to the above, I'd still love to hear it.

Rygoody just reported (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=4093456&postcount=1) that the mia_architectural shader (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=4091635&postcount=86) was good at shading leaves, you should give it a try maybe...
