View Full Version : Spring Sunset - matte painting + animation

I already posted this in the finished 2D section, but I thought it would also make sense to put it here.

I did this over 4 days. My first attempt at a more serious matte painting. I also did a short 20sec animation, which you can find below. Unfortunately the city's movement, volume and crispness make it look like a cardboard. I will do better next time.

A special thanks to Pedro Camacho for his great soundtrack.

hey andreas is good to see new work from you, great one by the way, the attention to detail is awesome , and the mood is just great, the animation is also great but some flock of birds flying woul help to give more life and dimension to the whole scene.
I think some of the cristals in the main tower should have more specular reflections from the sun
overall this is a great detailed painitng and composition , keep it up

Hey andreas,

That looks really sweet, perfect lighting and composition. My only comments been the cardboard effect as you described yourself. How was this produced? is it handpainted from scratch or have you used photographic elements? looks like a bit of both, the rock detail is amazing!
