View Full Version : Mental Ray - Resume Rendering Speed

I everyone!
Just a curiosity: I'm rendering, using MentalRay, an animation of 2500 frames; the scene it's 19mb large and there are cache files for fluids effects (somethig like 19gb of cached files).
For mental ray I've set a "Preview" Quality Set, I've activated Final Gather, and the images have a 320x240 resolution.

So, the question is: if I start the Batch Render from frame 1 to N, it starts immediatly, but if I resume the rendering and I start it from frame 800 for example to frame 2500, the rendering starts after a loooong time, but really long :).

I think Maya need to calculate something in the way that it points to that particular frames, but I'd like to know if there's a way to reduce this amount of time.

Thanks a lot.
