Hey, just an animation i did yesterday, and wanted to get some feedback as it will be going on my showreel, Thanks. (

Looks like a good start to me. One thing i would really work on is the sliding of the feet. It looks like the sliding is meant to be there to shift the bodies weight. If thats the case I would instead of sliding the feet actually lift them up off the ground. Even if its ever so slight, I wouldn't slide the feet at all just lift em up and put em back down and then hold that spot.

Ok, Fixed the sliding. Well what i could see anyways.

cant see the new one for some reason (goes to a youtube default page).

From the initial one my big suggestion would be the timing. It seems very straight-forward as if everything happens at the same time.
sees-moves over-leans down-grabs-picks up-stumbles-regroups-stumbles again-gets it up

maybe play with the timing to see if it will give it a bit more life. animation i looking good so far. I would only say that if its characterish you are going for then exagerate it a little.

will be watching....

mttjss - yes i can see that its all sort of move-pick up-stumble ect... and i will work on this , lol might take awhile to get it right. and about being characterish, well, i was only trying to demonstrate some basic wieght and thinkgs like that.

you reckon it will get me a job anywhere?? lol
More crits would be appretiated

well getting that job is alot harder than most people think.
Its a little bit of skill with a little bit of personality and a LOT of luck. :deal:

The biggest things I have learned is that your animations have to have these elements to really sell your reel.

Good sense of timing - does it look too linear/even throughout the shots
Good sense of weight - does the weight feel believable and lifelike
Good sense of appeal - does it want to bring the audience back for more

just remember that even though its a decent lift animation, they have seen the common lift cycles over and over...make it so that if they do stop your reel for that 1 animation, it actually has them wanting more...

Hope that all makes sense.

Thanks for that nice reply.

I know exactly what you mean, i guess im just in need of more ideas to make it more appealing and stand out from the generic lifting a rock thing. I guess it all comes with experiance.

I have learnt alot from this little animation and i will continue to improve it.

Hey put it this way, i think its better than the animation in Hoodwinked. no ofence to their animators just an observation. if that can be a feature film, then i got a chace, along with 99.9% of people here. lol

Sorry had to say it, that movie doesnt appeal to me at all.
