I don't like clowns and I will never go to a circus if I can help it. Clowns are Evil with a capital "E".

Wow, awesome work everyone :D I'm not sure if I'll have time to do mine (school >_<) but I thought I'd pop in and leave a comment or two...
Ivy00 - Cute lion :) I love how he's all fluffy and fuzzy, hehe.
gulkan - Crazy colours! Makes me think of India for some reason. And yep, elephants have every right to be entertained by humans!
Windroll - Whoa! Cute and creepy at the same time. That's how I love 'em.
dredsign - Hahahah, that's so awesome :D Poor giraffe, though...

What happened? I posted my daily sketch here yesterday and it hasn't shown up at all.
Was it because I happened to post it before the server went down?
I'll try again in a little bit.

I am trying this again because last time it didn't show up. If it shows up twice I apologize.
Needless to say I think clowns are evil with a capital "E".
Edit --> It took 35min, Adobe Photoshop CS with a Wacom Cintiq 17SX (monitor tablet)

Mine about an 1 hour maybe more
12 December 2006, 02:03 PM
gulkan and ransom: great use of colours! hope to learn from you more!
12 December 2006, 06:32 PM
Ivy00, D-NA, Ransom, dredsign - thanks guys! In digital painting getting the colors just the way I want is quite a struggle for me. Watercolor is my favorite medium to experiment with colors. I am trying to somehow attain the same level of intimacy with digital paint. So experimenting all different kind of approaches I can come up with. Some times it works some times it does not. At DSF, I see such a well executed digital techniques with distingue personal styles, all source of inspiration for me. Yet again harmonious colors, fluent forms, balanced composition etc hard to gauge, all very subjective and all stems from very different life experiences.
Ivy00's miniaturesk style
dredsign's sense of humor and action to mach it.
Windroll 's surreal dynamic setting and what a monkey!
Noiram's dream world of a child with her cat ( nice drawing ) as a willing participant.
Digital-Nogitsune's pointing the irony with simple design (would-be better without text )
Serkeien's acrobat with attitude in the spot light, drum roll, tension builds, cape comes off...
Ransom's dynamism of the circus announcer, well execution of lighting and colors right before the spot light
You see why I do not post that many comments, it's all over the place. Anyhow...
12 December 2006, 06:48 PM
gulkan, that really is quite exceptional! The technique totally rocks.
My miserable attempt, at 35 mins. Ugh.
(edit) AND....my miserable attempt after much longer than 35 minutes! Bring on the dancing horses....
12 December 2006, 07:14 PM
Gulkan, you have definitely my vote for this one... the idea behind that is great.
12 December 2006, 05:32 AM
I've always found the circus a place that is oddly happy yet sinister. I hoped to show that in this piece. To give an innocent and playful act appear slightly dark... Great job so far guys!
After 35 min:
After some additional time:

CGriffin, Vyse-soa Thanks guys! Fetching this many positive comments, I must have done something right.
CGriffin - your contortionist is quite good, hard pose to achieve without reference. (IMHO arms do not have the fluency of the legs though. I like the smooth surface of the platform with shadows and reflections )
Grantman - I think you achieved your goal. it gives you the feeling of things do not add up quite right, almost like that dark humor comics I use to follow from way back when.
12 December 2006, 10:45 PM
think I'll work on this some more. pscs2 wee lil' wacom.
12 December 2006, 02:51 PM
Inspiration from GrantMan's piece, nice one!
35min is short, i'll post an update later i think.
damn aiptek is acting up again....grrrr
