View Full Version : Normal map lighting question

12 December 2006, 11:00 PM
I've read somewhere that you can take a normal map and a z-depth map and extract lighting information from it, which shake can use to light a 3d scene. First of all - is that possible at all ('cos i may have read wrong...), second - is it possible to do in fusion, and third - if it is possible - how do you do it :P
links to tutorials anyone?

thanks a lot

It`s a bit different, so you propably read and understand wrong.
You can relight your image in postproduction in Shake or Fusion. For this you need normal map pass of your render.
I wrote how to do this allready in different topic in this forum, so check it out.
