Latest Update: Rough Storyboards or 3D pre-visualization: Sketch of initial concept

This rough story board illustrates the concept we are presenting for the trailer.

My name is Leo and I will be participating in the trailer challenge with my teammate Chris (known around here as shoshi900). My role will be that of producer, director, composer and team leader. Chris’s role will be that of the designer and creator of visual effects.
For our trailer we’ve decided to capture the emotional and thematic current of the book by creating a “teaser” style trailer that is simple in its design and majestic in its visual content.
The trailer will open with a close up of Patricia’s eyes. The camera will then dolly back to a medium shot and then rotate around to an over the shoulder shot that reveals Patricia standing alone looking down the Way. From here the camera will pull back in a sweeping aerial shot that will take us through all seven chambers and out of the borehole. The camera comes to rest in an ending trinity shot with the earth in the foreground, moon in the background, and the asteroid in between the two. This is where the title will appear. The whole trailer will happen in one camera move with no visible edits and will contain no dialogue. The music will support the emotional undercurrent of the trailer.
Chris has sketched out a few preliminary story boards that illustrate the concept. These can be seen in our first milestone post.
Our next work in progress post will contain a final pre-viz of the trailer that will demonstrate the camera’s moment in the scene.

Very cool idea! If you manage to let the viewer even realize, that the Way Patricia is looking down can impossibly fit into the Stone, then it would be really neat.

We plan to have the Way continue to a vanishing point in the over the shoulder shot to establish its infinite length. We also plan to have the aerial pullback seem disproportionately long in comparison to the exterior view of the asteroid. Together these elements should create a feeling of mystery as to how everything we’ve seen could fit into the asteroid’s interior.

That sounds like a fantastic idea for a trailer/teaser. Welcome to the challange and best of luck. I look forward to seeing this one come to life.
