View Full Version : glow that refracts in glass

How do I get a glow to refract? I animated a few glowing lines behind a glass logo and then realized that the glow is added as a post process. How else can I create the glow?

How simple is the scene?

You could render the lines alone, and then used that rendered image on a plane behind the logo.

Maybe you can achieve that with FG (mental ray) illumination of shaders. Just increase V value about 10-15 (in HSV colorspace) in color of the shader. You must use Maya`s surface shader. Very good tutorial:

Thanks for the replies.

Victor, that sounds like a good solution. I'd prefer to take care of it in one pass, so I'm going to try Sergio76's idea first. I wont be able to give it a go until Monday at work. Either way I'll let you know what happened.

Thanks to both of you for your help!!
