Well to begin with i think your image is about as far from been a matte painting as i am from been a professional matte painter :) (which is very distant :-)

That said, it's quite an interesting image in its own right, very bold and lots of stars. If you want to get into matte painting then you need to take a look at people such as Dylan Cole and Chris Stoski, take a look through there work and you soon have an idea.

A matte painting is usually a photo realistic image of a non existant scene for use in film and cinemtic media.

Keep em rolling and hope to see more in the future.

Hi Johan welcome to these forums.

well to be honest I agree with everlite about this image, it is far from a matte painting
matte painting is no just adding elements to a photo or trying to add fantasy to an image
matte painting has one purpose, one focal node, one feeling
think about image composition, color, photoreal effects
I suggest that you visit the sticky thread about tutorials, you will find lots of theorical and practical stuff that will help you in this matters
