View Full Version : weird shading on polygons

hi, in the process of modeling something in polys, i deleted some faces, used append polygon, and now the appended faces have very weird shading, the darks and lights don't even match with the polygons i didn't edit that are around them. The normals all seem to be facing the right way. Is there a fix for this problem?

If its a common problem, i'd appreciate knowing what its called so i can do a search.

could be to do with 'smoothing groups'

give that a check

actually i found a fix. Apparently unlock normals reverts the shading back to normal. But... can anyone explain to me why?
