ey guys its me again.. .i posted this sketch up a few days ago... and it's my first attempt at coloring my work... it kinda sux coz i didnt finish that sketch hehe but its just my first try and would like to know your suggestions....

i used photoshop and read almost all the turorials.... still dont know if... wutever hehe c&c welcome!!!

It's not at all bad but needs work still... Where's the light source? The lighting seems overly even and the shadows are so black... and why can you see his arm on the right so clearly but no sign of his legs at the same level? Pluss it all seems a bit "rough".

Still, the anatomy is good, and it's got a menecing feel to it, keep workin :)

ey thanks!!!! i didnt finish that sketch thats why he doesnt have a leg and left arm... hehe i'll try to lighten things up next tym!!:D

anyway.. any help on how to smooth things up on painter 7??? thanks......:D

two ways...

on the Brush palette under 'liquid'...

using oil brushes, under Brush Controls set resaturation all the way down to zero. works best for me with Captured Bristle (the default one)

i like the second way better. and be careful not to have too many dark spots before you smudge....better to paint on the darks last.

smoothing is the only thing i use my captured bristle for, and i rarely smooth anyway.

here are my settings:

opacity: 15% or lower
thickness: 65
clumpiness: 60
hair scale: 420
scale/size: 60
spacing: 5
resat: 0
bleed: 100
dryout: 200

if you wanna do some glazing, bump resat up to 10 at the most.
