my latest project
my point is to model all details for exterior on that car and not go over 10k of triangles
here is actual progress with 2314 tris

You're burning polys on some detail work that should probably be kept in the normal map, especially if you're trying to keep this "game art" and a budget of 10k tris. You'll want the polys for good looking tires and possibly some interior modeling. The normal map will accomplish a lot as far tire treads, chasis seams, grill work, trim details, molding, etc. go. Although, nowadays a good car model can really crank up on polys (Project Gotham Racing 3 on the 360, for instance, has some vehicles that push 100k), especially because cars have relatively few visible moving parts so animating them takes considerably less processing than characters.

i'm working on some new environment form my personal project and i just figure out, that normal maps are awesome if You can (know how) use them in right way, so keep up dude:thumbsup:
