I like hydra and chimera the rest is so so. No normal or specular mapping is a minus.
Keep up the good work.

They all have normal and specular maps. They are just generated from painted textures.

Looks great Brian. Nymph is my favorite!

Thats great works man.
I was playing the Titan Quest, and I must say that all graphic works U made guys are great. Only minus was lack of zoom and rotation in camera,'cos the characters and enviro was so nice that I wanted to see them closer.
Anyway, awesome work.

11-21-2006, 05:13 PM
Looks like the two Brians at Iron Lore work side by side. Good show

11-21-2006, 05:30 PM
Really well done. The look of the characters is really consistent and has a lot of polish. Really likin' the chimera.

11-21-2006, 06:36 PM
Ahh sweet!
Thnx Lildragon!

11-21-2006, 06:52 PM
titan quest is soo cool ! Nymph is my favorite .. Btw wich software do you use in the Forge of Iron Lore ?

11-21-2006, 07:01 PM
That is a really impressive bit of work there, B. I am especially partial to your Talos model. I always loved the complexity of it. Very beautifully executed.

11-21-2006, 07:06 PM
beautiful work brian!

not much else to say:)

11-21-2006, 07:06 PM
jojo1975: We use 3D Studio Max for most of our forging;)
The expansion pack, Titan Quest: Immortal Throne ( is coming out soon!

11-21-2006, 07:32 PM
nicely done. The mummy is awesome. And the.. eh goblin? (last dude), sweet expressions on his face, he looks like a bright guy:)

11-21-2006, 08:07 PM
No normal or specular mapping is a minus...

 they're more easily visible in the in-game shots...

Anyway, I dig the hydra the most, pure quality. It looks like the mechanized knight comes apart in pieces as you kill him, right? Very nicely done.

11-21-2006, 08:25 PM
those are some gorgeous lowpoly models.

I very much like the hydra aswell :)

11-21-2006, 09:51 PM
Whoooo! Titan Quest Rocks!!!
These Look Great Brian. I wish I would have documented the work I did a bit better so I could pimp like you.

11-21-2006, 10:36 PM
really inspiring!!!:buttrock:

Any chance you could share the wires? I would also love to know the average polycount and texture sizes :)

11-21-2006, 11:20 PM
Indeed, very inspiring monsters you have there, good job.

11-21-2006, 11:38 PM
Itīs a very good job due to the cirumstances that there no normalmaps based on high-poly models, nice texture work!
I especially like the hydra and the dragonlich.

I think the wolves are rather intermediate, there ist something with the heads and the anatomy which is bugging me...

The nymph is also beautiful, but i think the feet are al little bit clumsy. She and the mummy sticks out because the textures are very comic-like, a little bit like the World of Warcraft -style. But indeed very nice :)

Respect for Titan Quest, itīs inspring for many other game artists :)
I also want to mention that it has so beautiful light, itīs like there is real sun shining...

11-22-2006, 12:54 AM
this is just greate ..... it is full of life

11-22-2006, 02:32 AM
Those models are great and they make me happy.

11-22-2006, 02:54 AM
My personal favorite is the hydra - that model looks sweet and the textures work extremely well.

Those painted wrinkles around the corner of the mouth on this creature gives it a nice, hideous quality and the scales come across very well. Having larger eyes on the main head and slightly different changes on each head also makes it more interesting to look at. I could really see the feet/ arms for this creature having a taper to them - though - maybe be a bit thicker as well to support that massive body, but that's just my opinion.

I'm really digging the head on the Satyrbrute character - it has so much personality - and those wolves look great!

The one thing that I noticed with the wolves is that the deformations do look somewhat strange...especially with the lower paws and around the front shoulder area. Everything else is looking sweet though, especially the faces on those wolves...they're really something.

Looking good!

WOW. Your texture work is amazing. Good job dude.

11-23-2006, 02:41 AM
That main head on the hydra is great. He looks like he's having a blast.

How many poly's for that sucker?

11-23-2006, 06:11 AM
Very, very well done. I have but one criticism. The nimph (or archer girl), whatever she is called. It jumped out at me straight away when I saw her.... the photoshop maple leaf brush you used on her leg texture. Fair enough it might gel well with her character, however... it just screams at me, out of the box photoshop maple leaf brush, with scatter and scale variance on it. In my honest opinion, I think it detracts from the model.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and you didn't use that brush for your textures.

That said, I think your skills are very impressive. Really good work man.

Cheers :D

Some sweet work there. Love the Hydra and that really odd lion/snake/goat creature and the Linch. Nasty looking things, but in a good way :)

11-23-2006, 11:59 AM
execution 100
creativity 10

Really well done models and textures! I particularly like the Chimera and Talos. Would be great to see the player character posted next to these images for a sense of scale. The only criticism I have is of the Nymph. Her style does not match the other characters, she's way too cartoony. Looks like she belongs in World of Warcraft rather than Titan Quest.

Congrats on the well done work and top row status. Peace!
