I am looking for a simple parachute tutorial.
I am trying to model a plane crash with an ejector seat.

what exactly would a parachute tutorial show you how to do?

do you want to model a parachute?
do you want to texture / setup the material of a parachute?
are you trying to rig a custom setup for parachute animation or do you want to setup a scene to simulate the animation with wind & gravity?

specifics help.

and don't be surprised if you don't find a step by step tutorial to do everything you want, that seems like a kind of random request for a detailed tutorial.

Theoraticly you could just use the cloth simulator bind the vertexes on the corners of the cloth to splines then use reactor and give your ejected character weight with reactor.

it would be trikky to do i guess.

Search in google for following phrases.

3dsmax cloth simulation tuturial
3dsmax reactor tuturial
3dsmax reactor cloth tuturial

right, you'll succeed with this last method, plus you can add wind effects, no special extra feature to explain, you'll find easily
for tutos, try some with curtains, as the vertex are often attached to someting, you'll nearly have evertyhing for your tut .. !
