View Full Version : How to create normals in photoshop? Tutorials?

Hey I know about normal mapping and i have the photoshop plug in to make normal maps but i dont know how to use it properly. Has anybody got any tutorials or anything to help me :)

i find the PS filter lacking somewhat.

i now use a combination of the filter and hand drawn.

best way is too bake out a sphere on to a plane(in 3d app)and use the colour picker(inPS) to select various angles then paint with that on your texture. can often be much faster esp good for touch-ups.

painting normals is weird!
isnt it better to paint a wb-bumpmap and render it to a normalmap togerher with the highpoly model?
