View Full Version : Subdivison surfaces in Soft 3D?

03-20-2002, 10:32 PM
I have Soft 3D, 3.9.2 and wanted to know if there is anything similar to smoothing or subdivision surfaces, I didn't locate them and was wondering if the people did everything with NURBS or if there is an alternate possibility

Yes, its called XSI. Perhaps, its time to make the move since Soft 3D is predominantly a nurbs package for modeling.

You can always try out Metamesh extreme from Pheonix Tools (http://www.phoenixtools.com/), it's not really subdivision surfaces but if your familliar with maya you'll see that it's almost exactly the same as the smooth function (i.e. you model the low-rez, texture the low-rez and assign the low-rez and the high-rez follow).

thanks, I also have XSI, but I want to try something it in soft 3d and thought maybe there is a possibility. But for phoenix tools you have to pay right?

Yes, you have to pay, but I think it's woth it, it makes soft|3D so much more.

find metamesh extreme from phoenix tools, you can easly find it on kazza or someone around you, it's very simple to use and give very good result
