"Salem Witch Trials"
For our non american friends, here is an brief history lesson from wikipedia:
"The Salem Witch Trials, which began in 1692 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1692) (also known as the Salem witch hunt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch-hunt) and the Salem witchcraft episode), resulted in a number of convictions and executions for witchcraft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchcraft) in both Salem Village (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danvers%2C_Massachusetts) and Salem Town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salem%2C_Massachusetts), Massachusetts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massachusetts). It was the result of a period of factional infighting and Puritan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puritan) witch hysteria which led to the death of 20 people (14 women, 6 men) and the imprisonment of scores more."
These are the rules:
You have 45 MN do your sketch. IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing.

If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.

You can post an entry at anytime for the topic presented on this thead BEFORE the voting thread for THE WEEK has been posted.
The artist also has to post total length of time it took and program used.
Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.

(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.

One hour, in Photoshop. What I was originally trying to do wasnt turning out right so I decided to do something different and play. Most of the "witches" that were killed during the trial weren't even witches. And witches are good people anyway.
Su, great sketches!

friend I m new to this place . what is the rule of posting and time on this title
10 October 2006, 01:23 PM
achromatic, you have 45 minutes to sketch anything having to do with the Salem Witch Trials. If you go beyond the assigned time limit, you have to post whatever you have done after the time has expired, along with the final drawing. That means you could have 2 drawings: one at 45 minutes and the other at 3 hours or however long it takes you.
You have until about Friday the 13th (maybe even Saturday) of October to show us your sketch in order to be included in the voting for the best sketch. If you post after the 13th or 14th that's okay too but your sketch might miss out on the voting (or it might make it in).
Anyway, it's all for fun so please show us your ideas for each topic that interests you. Have fun!

Went Way over 2.5 (Had line art at 45 min). Been watching samuri jack, biting on that style... sort of (Trying to avoid using black outline). Missing a little contrast in the faces maybe.
STORY: 1 guilty, 2 innocent, all convicted.
SU: Prefer the first image, stronger composition. Like the the witch in the second. Nice poses with no ref.
Nice mood, what were you trying to do originally?
Solid, great composition and storytelling. Wish I had something constructive comments but not sure what to change.
Fantastic color palette! Warm cool lighting is always a hit
Cool style and character
