I´d like to introduce you to our website http://www.vray-materials.de
Following the good example of the already well-known maxwell-resource, we have developed a site for vray-users which could become a great material-resource in the future. Some of you may already know our site, others won´t ;)
The purpose of this site is, to provide a neutral sample-scene (which should not be modified!) which guarantees a comparability of all materials. It is suitable for very bright and very dark materials, the main object has complex shapes for all kind of effects like SSS, glossy refractions etc.
This scene can be downloaded for max8 and max7. Users then generate a material (complex procedurals are of course appreciated a lot!), render the scene with the presettings and upload a rendering as well as the material (material-library with the specific material as well as textures and bitmaps etc.)
Just have a look at our site and I´m sure you will understand the concept :)
We´ve been in beta-testing for the last couple of weeks and just finished the testing-stage. We´ve already got more than 8.000 registered users and more than 250 materials, which can all be downloaded. There are no restrictions for the materials - users accept that their materials can be used for free by other users. There are no fees or sth. like that.
Here are some shots from just a few of our materials. I´d like to say a big thanks to all users who have provided us with those great materials already and we hope that this site will become an enrichment for all those who desperately need a specific material just 5 minutes before the deadline ends ;) Well, you know what I´m talking about, don´t you. Just have a look around, get a free account and help us building up this project! Thanks!
(by the way - this is a non commercial project, some may still wonder why we present some google ads on our site - that´s simply neccessary to meet the costs for the high traffic which has already exceeded 250 GB in a few weeks).
best regards :D
