View Full Version : improving rendering speed

Hi all,

I'm quite new to XSI, just got my stack of digital-tutors training material. Anyway, i was going through a final gathering chapter, I notice that when I render a region speed is quite good, after a bit of loading time. It's not super long, but the loading time is longer than the rendering time.

Is this normal? Am I making any sense? Any tips on how to improve the speed?

I'm using an amd x2 4200 (dual core), with 2 gigs of ram if that helps.

I think you are experiencing a delay due to the Final Gather calculation, but you do not have enabled the means by which you can visualize it. Under render region setting, final gather, enable final gather preview, also under the logged messages options, enable progress report.
Now you will be able to see that your render is not "loading", but is acalculating your FG solution.

That's my guess anyway...
