I'm trying to do a king. I know I haven't done much yet, but i want advice if posible. Later i'll post more pictures so don't worry.

How many tris is this? For something like this I'd recommend leaving the normals HARD (so it looks faceted) only because until it's textured, it's really hard to distinguish what the shape is. The face for example seems to be a diamond shape sticking out of the rest, but it's too hard to tell. Anyway, it's got style. Could look very nicely when textured.

You thought the big diamond was the head because i hadnt done the head yet, and i didn't tell you.
The diamond is actually a part of the clothing, like on that drawing:

Anyway, I made it faceted like you said, and it looks much clearer now.
I also made the head and the crown.
Total triangles is 616.
Here's the current progress:

Looking pretty cool.!

[ the real santa on the north pole] :scream: ha ha

It would look cool if you droped the cloack way down on the back and put his crest on it or something

Here's the unwraping, if you have any advice or any tips for unwrapping they would help me a lot.
Utchamp he does look like santa, maybe it's because I'm trying to give him a 'good king' look, maybe later i could make a bad king model. About the cloak being longer, i can't really do that, because this is going to be exported as .3ds, and it's gotta be stiff, so the cloak thing works as the torso, but if i make it longer it wont be able to bend. It would look a lot cooler though.

model is pretty cool looking, I found that santa clause idea to be pretty neat. You make your guy the true king of the north pole, and make the typical santa clause looking guy allitle more evil and more like a fat slob. i think that would be cool anyways.

Um sorry i didn't express myself clearly..... here we go. The thing that comes around his shoulders and down to the middle of the back is what i meant as a cloak..

And looking at it again you might try to rework the nose a little bit...... it looks like all the verticies slope down so the nose is in a round bowl-ish thing. Maybe you want it like that but it might look better if the top of the nose was pushed out a little and made it semi more *normal*

I don't know about the last part i am probably just full of it you can just ignore me and you will get farther faster in life :) .

Now that i moved on to texture, it'll be easyer to give me advice. I'd like tips on how to make it better. I know there is huge list of stuff that can be fixed or added to make it look better, but if you guys can help i'll apreciate it.
I will post more updates soon

Well, to start, he needs eyebrows! ;) Another thing I noticed is that it looks like the ear texture needs to be rotated 90 degrees (clockwise) and then flipped horizontally. That little bump should be on the inside of the front edge of his ear.. Hope that makes sense. Aside from that, it's looking cool. Just add more colors! ;)

haha he looks really cool, face reminds me of buddah

hehe i dont think siddharta was that fat after fasting in the forest^^ Those fat smiling effigys you see in front of china restaurants afaik have a different name, it just doesnt come to my mind right now lol

I love that guy! Are you going to leave his clothes blue? I'd suggest making it reddish otherwise. For painting ears consult this image by Ben Mathis:

Hey, thanks! He is quite happy, it's good to be the king. I should make a texture for him later in wich he has other facial expressions.
I added the eyebrows lol. And i actually redid the ears, but they ended up looking very similar except for the bumpy thingy, i want it to be a cartoony ear.

Looking really nice! The only suggestions I have at the moment are to add a shadow on his forehead from his crown, and to check the texture on the back of his robe/cape. It looks like there's a bit of a seam there?

I just finished the textures. So far i think it looks good. (Although i probably have to do something about the robe)
I might do some animations and post animated gifs.
I was thinking after this i should do a knight, with same style and everything.

hope you do the knight aswell.

Great stuff, I love really low poly stuff like this

I really like the way you have done the hands as blocks and dealt with the texture, thats a cool technique

I think the forehead needs some love on the texture but other than that I like it
