I'm a new to PFlow and other effects so I don't know a lot so please excuse my ignorace. I was looking to make an effect where it was black to start with and a cloud of particles came and formed text then blew away and repeated 2 or 3 times. So for simplicity just white color on the particles. I appreciate any help you can or are willing to give me.

i'm not sure how to make particles conform to the shape of an object but one trick you can do is to birth particles over the surface of the object, have them blow away, and then just reverse the footage in comp. Simple, yet effective.

I tried that with plfow set at 100,000 particles. I set the size to .1 because anything larger doesn't realy look like dust. The only problem is it seems like only 50% or less of the model is covered and I can seem to set it at more than 100,000 or else 3ds max freezes. The only luck I've had is with PCloud and it forms the shape, not jsut the surface and it seems like theres a way I could fix that. I also don't know much about PFlow so that could be the problem. Anyways thank you for your help.

how to have particle appear out of nowhere and create a shape

how to have them dissipate like smoke

and if you really need them to create the shape of the geometry, this is a thread where tyson ibele helped me do the same thing. there's a couple movies posted of our progress. if this looks like what you need, but its still confusing, just ask, and i'll try to explain what i did.
