View Full Version : Medium Poly Male!

Here is one of my medium poly attempt. It is about 7000 tris. I have used Adobe photoshop to draw the texture. I don't have a waccom Tab or digital camera...so it is quite irritating work.:)
here is the webpage address:
Anyway, If any one would like to put some crtics for this wretched piece of work.
I have used 3ds Max default renderer for render.

Would it be possible to see a wire frame, because at the moment for a 7k character there seem to be some awfully 'boxy' bits (the tops of the boots and the hands).
I'd also say you need to take a look at proportion, as those arms are way too long at the moment. Here is a quick mock up of how his hands would come down to his boots when he wasn't standing in the T position
I'm sure you are familiar with the image I overlayed ontop of your character, again notice how the arms are too long
Textures look ok, but they seem a bit flat, and a bit blurred - maybe that's due to their resolution? I think with a bit of tweaking to bring them to life more, and fixing the proportions this character will look pretty good.
Good luck :)

Hi newbis. This piece is by no means wretched. Looks pretty good. I was going to say shorten the arms, but I see that's already been addressed. Same about the texture, what resolution are you working in? It would be a lot easier to critique if you did post some wires. This way, we could see your poly flow, distribution, and see how your deformations might work. From what I can see, the wrists seem a bit small and flat. Hope it helps, keep it up! :)

Work more on the hands they look flat, its tricky get it right you can use your own hand for reference. work more on the proportion again good reference is needed, few wire shots would help aswell, looking good though.

:)Thanx a lot guys. I have spent much poly in the head area. Which was unwise, ofcourse.
Yeah, and the hands looked odd to me too. Just couldn't figure out.The Vitrubian man will help a lot. I always have problem with arms proportion. The hair is another problem. The Texture is about 1400 by 1600 pixels.
I will upload a smaller version of the texture, soon. As I use internate in Cyber cafe, I can't do it now.
I really appreciate your critics. Helped a lot.:)

right well just so you know the texture cant be that size it has to be power of 2 so 1024x1024 would be closest to what you have now.
if you dont mind me saying, dont take this the wrong way if its not true but the head seems VERY 'Poser'

GLandolina, I don't mind. But the model isn't poser. I mentioned earlier that I have spent much poly in the head.
I keep backup of my work at every two or three hours interval. It means I can show u some progress file if u still have doubt.
Anyway, here is the smaller version of my Texture.
I don't use any plug-ins. I just ScreenPrint single part of the unwrapped mesh , then paint it in photoshop. After that I combine all the file in one single image.

:)Anyone want to comment on my Texturing.
I don't know why they look blured. Any suggestion?
