Pretty nice modeling, should look cool once you add some materials!

Thanks KickFlip! Materials might be a bit hard, it's this weird ... silverly plastic stuff - I've tried making this type of material before with no luck, but hopefully this time I will get it right

/me copys from

...Those are looking really swish man. Very clean.
Nice render setup. Although I wouldnt spend so much time rendering wip models.. hehe. No acutally I would.. but.. you know what I mean. hehe.
Keep going. When do we get wireframes?...

Although I wouldnt spend so much time rendering wip models..
It only takes around 1-2min to render those, I hve my vRay settings tuned hehe =)

When do we get wireframes?
Now :P

nice work, but i have the feeling, that the circle shape in the front is not really a cirle, but a little, little bit boxy, its hard to see and maybe me eyes are defect;)

09-20-2006, 04:59 PM

The circle isn't 100% round - but I think it's round enough, unless does anyone else think it doesn't look round?

09-20-2006, 07:25 PM
They look round to me:) ...I though you had modeled in nurbs when I first saw this...very nice.

Thanks leif3d - hehe no not nurbs, I've never actaully used nurbs before!

Here is a quick shader/material test:

Looking nice man. Something about that last render though.... I think maybe you need to make the materials more reflective or add HDRI to spruce it up? Also maybe try adding more colors into the equation, like multi colored plastics for the trim or w/e. But, it's looking really nice none the less. Keep it up!

I already have an HDRI for the reflections, but I'll try increase the reflection of the materials =) There will be more colour in there for the final one, this was just a test for the main silver material. I'll post and update when I get back from college

Update, this is kind of what it will look like when finished - but I'm not to sure on the background colour, any sugestions?

Edit: Actually looking back at it, I don't like it :P

Update, Blue/Purple is better I think? Comments please!

I like your renders, the model seems really good too... but I don't like the speakers! :D
They have a bad line! Of course this is not of any importance in the value of your work. Maybe you could add a light on the LED in front of the big speaker, and change a little the net of the little ones, or post a bigger render with a better resolution. About the colour of the background I like both, but the colour of the plastic is nothing special, and perhaps too much opaque.
These are only my opinions, this is a nice and realistic work.

Thanks for the comments, Yeah the cover of the little ones is not right and I need to re-do it really, it just doesn't look right.

Maybe you could add a light on the LED in front of the big speaker,
Good idea!

but the colour of the plastic is nothing special,
Mmm true, the material for that silverly plastic does need tweaking, I'll see what I can do =)

Tweaked the lighting, which do you prefer - this one or the one above?
