View Full Version : My first car [WIP]

I've always wanted to model a car.
Here is my first attempt.
There are a lot of you out there that have done this before so let me know what you think so far.

Lightwave 7

Looking like good star but i'am hope that you still have SubD (metaNurbs - before TAB key) version ??' You don't need to frezze polys in Lw7 so i suggest that you try with that version.

Never used LW, but I know it is perfectly capable of car modelling so keep up the good work and I am sure it will look great.

Viper right? GTS?

Thanks for the replies.
You're right FrageNSTEIN. It's a Viper GTS Coupe, one of my favorite cars.

Here's an update. Still working on getting the details.
I have some concerns about adding the windows/lights. What do you guys suggest? Should I use maps or geometry?

Needs a little sharpening in areas, but overall looks very good! As for the lights, I would model all the parts, it will make for a much more believable end product IMO. Keep us posted as you progress.:)

I split the shell in half and seperated each piece. Still working on smoothing everything out and adding the detail.

I have a question for all you car lovers out there. I found a forum a while back for 3d cars and now I've lost the address. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Smedly, check out the member profile for eighthdecay (or dec@y) not sure how he spells it. He has a forum he runs with all 3d cars, don't know if that's the 1 you're talking about, but it's a start!:)

Thanks Tbonz. That's the one.
