View Full Version : HARDCORE MODELING!: 30DAYS, 30Models Silver

First post here,
Very much a beginner, still only 1/2 way through 3dMax tuts, but you have to start somewhere I guess.
Going for silver and will be pretty much doing the "easy" stuff, as that is the level I am at the moment LOL
I have started with the pencil, 2hrs including texturing, 3dMax and corel photoshop.
Beauty renders are going to be so so till I get past rendering from the work area.

looks good to me for a beginner piece, keep up the good work.
This challenge should allow you to develop your modelling skills much further

Nice pencils. But i the 1st pic what is the white round thing with a golden rim?
An eraser or something?

yeh its the eraser on top of the pencil looking down the pencil from the eraser end

Yes the first view is from the eraser end
the views are the Ortho views, Front, Top and Left (which in this case is the eraser end).
I was working on the clownfish and about 15 mins in, Max seized on me, I hope to get some time tonight to work on it again.

Started again which probably was not a bad thing.
Poly 670, tex map 512x512
3dMax 7 and corelphotopaint
modeled when I could grab a few mins, totaled about 5 hours over two days.
main photo reference from a florida schools site, google provided some others, the only thing I could not figure out was the back under fin, modeled as one but posibly could be two but I couldn't tell.

about 2.5 hours 3d max and a render in poser6 wih (poser materials),
I couldnt get the metal to look right, I will leave it for the moment as I am mainly trying to practice modeling.

Plugging away when I get time.
Followed the hints on the shell from one of the other entrys (cant find it at the moment, to give proper credit). used the same principle to create the screw threads.
3dMax 7 about 3 hours with beauty render in Poser6
also found a link on how to use photobucket and will try that out tommorrow.

hey froggy42 nice clean models so far... I was going to suggest the photobucket thing... but it sounds like you already found it:thumbsup:... keep it up... If you have time I suggest doing one of the more complex models at the end... but that's up to you (I know you just started... everyone has to start somewhere.)
One thing I would suggest though... on the clownfish.. (unless it is for a game) you may want to see what a smooth modifier would do to it... (just a suggestion)

WIP, Low res horse
Zbrush should arrive by the end of the week, and then I will have a go at details with ZBrush.
ps it is a clydesdale, the feathers(on lower legs) and details on the mane are yet to be done.
