View Full Version : Scaling to exact dimensions

Hi there

I have imported a OBJ file into 3DS Max 7 and I can't find any way of scaling it to exact dimensions. I build architectural models and so I need to accurate. I model in Lightwave as it is my preferred appliaction, but my client needs the model in Max format. So I exported the model out as an OBJ file and then imported into Max.

Please can someone help

What is the object's scale currently?

If, for instance, max is setup in inches, and LW is set up in feet, you can simply adjust the scene scale by 12.

Easiest way (and what I always do) is to create a box that's 1x1x1 unit in the original app, then import it and figure out the scale factor.

You can also try changing the system units type in the Configuration --> Units dialog.

Thanks guys for your advice. I changed the units setup and it worked. I must be so blind :p
