I need to pick something more difficult next time.
I'm putting a list up later in my first post. The models i will go for this week will be in there.

bought some new sony ear plug headphones a week ago. So they where the first that came in my mind for modeling.
08 August 2006, 12:25 AM
Actually not day 4 but i liked the added model ideas so i did another one today. I will take a break tomorrow.
TOP - no boring back view this time.
08 August 2006, 01:48 AM
I really like how the headphones turned out. What software did you use to make the crab? ZBrush?
08 August 2006, 10:29 AM
yes the base model was made in c4d. a little Z here and there et voila.
I'm learning Zbrush for some weeks now. My skill is not that solid as with c4d but i will get there as soon as i can work with that stupid interface of Zbrush.
I will work on the crab a little more 'cause right now i'm not satisfied with it as it is.
The legs need some more work.

Looking good mate, and good luck with your 20 models... looks like you will have not trouble meeting the deadline. Here is some comments on your work so far:
Screwdriver: A nice and clean model... has as much detail as the actual object in real life... I don't think you could add much more so good work.
Machete: You have got the basic model of the machete here but it could use a bit more detail... I find that if a real life reference is a bit plain with detail I try and add my own where it fits, it make the world of difference when the model is finished.
Earplug headphones: Very nice model. I think you have got some good detail on the model so good job there.
Crab: It isn't to bad of a model... You have got some nice detail on the back but I think you could probably define the claws quite a bit more... looking at your model, I can only just see were the pincer is, so a bit more detail there would be good.
Apart from that I think you are doing a good job so keep it up!

Now that I've had some time to look at the crab, some things poke out at me.
1. It's too symetrical. (mabey that's how that species really is, if so you might wanna post a reference pic to show.
2. Is the crab missing half off its claw? I mean the part that moves to pinch stuff.
3. Yes, the legs, as they are right now, are kind of a let down from the rest of the model.
For the machette (sp?), try adding some wrinkles into the leather and some scratches on the handle. Im not really sure what you should do with the blade, but it does look a little...je ne sais quoi. Mabey checking out a few more reference pics will give you some ideas.
Great work, keep it up.

thanks for the detailed comments first of all.
For the machete modell.
ZaneV I don't think adding in more detail will help this model that much. Only point i got so far is reworking the handle. i like it to be made of some kind of old wood. Maybe later i will give it a shot.
For the Crab modell. I will rework the lower 4 leg pairs today. Got some insight on Zbrush and will try to give it the detail needed. For the half of the claw i'm going to rework the whole claw. They are not only missing some parts they also look boring. I will change the posted images.

I like the changes you made to the crab. It just needed a little "oomph".

he mike0006 - You might be right. little prob right now is the polycount on this one after exporting from ZB to C4D. I like to get back to this. Need some time but i will def. go for it.
Today just a little finger stretching. A brush i have here on my table. about 30 min of fiddling with the c4d hair module. but he not bad for a first try.

ok people. been absent for some days. sorry for that.
i think time to start posting again.
here comes my cell/smartphone design. the flip-phone design part wasn't my idea. It was on tv last week made by some young german product designer. but he - cool idea and so i was thinking why not try to model something like this.
here are the images.

nice phone... the model looks well made... I'm in the process of making my cell phone too... (lol) I have two different models to post and maybe one to be posted on tuesday... the cell phone is the second... (it is very difficult especially with the buttons <LOL>.
Kudos on the phone and all your models they all look great.... question though did you use Zbrush on your crab?? OOPS didn't look at the first post! I have just gotten zbrush but haven't used it yet because I don't know anything about it.. and I don't want to use it in the competition without learning about it first... do you have any tutorials that I could take a look at so that I can learn some of the basic tools on zbrush? THANKS.
Well anyway have fun modeling!

thank you for the comment first. For learning ZBrush i started out with the digital tutors beginners guide. The hardest thing for me was to learn the interface on ZB. Anything else is pretty easy to learn.
check the digital tutors hp
free stuff on ZB can be found of course on Zbrushcentral.
