Hi all,

Well time to upgrade, the bad thing that its kind of forced upgrade (previous motherbord died). I have two questions. First is for the motherbord, I will go with AM2 and want to use the nforce 570 chipset. The only two motherbords I could find here are - and Now I don't really need the SLI but as was posted on this forum its nice to have one just in case. So yes its nice but no more, what is more important is wich of those more reliable (if any)and wich has better integrated sound?

The second question is about graphic card (wich I need for maya not games), I have the GeForce 4200ti, will the Geforce 7300gt (the regular ddr2 version) be at least as good in maya? How much better the 7600gt then the 7300gt in maya?

The 7300 gt will be significantly better than the the 4200. I owned one for a long time, & it was a great card, but it's days are over. Either a 7600gs (passively cooled) . Or a 7600GT if you can stretch to it. In truth, the 7600GT is a lot better than the 7600gs but both will be a significant improvement. It depends on the price difference. The 7600 GT offers approx 25 % better performance, so if you pay 25 % or less more is a good deal.

Both Gigabyte and ASUS are good mobo makers, and I wouldn't make a decision based on SLI since its not supported yet, and planning on the maybe that it will would probably mean your hardware would be obsolete by that time. As far as onboard sound, if its nvidia doing the sound then its decent.

Thanks for your replys. I can get a 7300gt for 110$-125$, the 7600gs for ~170$ and the 7600gt for ~ 225$. So the 7600gt costs about twice as much as the 7300gt and about 30% more then the 7600gs.
I couldn't understand from your post what card the 7600gt better of by 25%, the 7600gs or 7300gt?

Thats not entirely true, mostly because Nvidia does not produce onboard sound these days (sound storm) Insted they have been relying on 3rd party manufacturers for sound chips.

In any case, most onboard sound is good enough for most people. Audio freaks, may find Creative's X-Fi (or other competing cards) more appealing though.

I meant vs the 7600gs. But that is just off the top of my head. You should check some benchmarks. It's hard to say about the 7300GT because I think there are many different versions of it which perform quite differently to one another.

Thanks. I think I will go with the 7300gt in the end , as directx10 cards aren't to far away its just don't wise for me to invest in 7600gt at this point.
