There are no cheap xeon motherboards...unless you want to limit your upgrade path.
Average "decent" xeon boards start around 400-500 USD. Sometimes one will be on sale, but its quite rare to see them below the 400 USD mark.
And thats without onboard scsi. Don't forget if you buy an older (pre e7505 board) you'll have the additional 2x cost of having to buy rambus, as opposed to DDR.
