View Full Version : Render Test

12-29-2001, 08:55 AM
I start most of my images as a test for one function or the other and some of these images
(such as the image below) do get to be interesting enough to be posted.

This image is mostly consists of 3D primitives and text with some 2.5D brush strokes and it was simply
done as a ZBrush rendering test (the image below is cropped version of a larger image).
The image is quite bright on my system; I do hope that it is not too washed-out on your monitor.

A Question: Looking at the above image, can you tell what kind of ‘real-world’ material the scene is mostly consists of? ( Wood, is not the right answer:) )

Comments and questions are welcome,

Bump up the AA.

It looks like the aliasing came from comping it in photoshop... am I right? Is that where the colors came from? Anyways, nice work.

My guess is wax :)

Thank you for your very kind replies, Looks like GI is hot topic these days:)

This was indeed an experiment with wax/soap material (just regular soap, not the pain-inducing kind described by enay:) ) but as I look at the image, the impression is that some areas are looking more like marble/ivory than soap/wax. It would obviously help if the depicted objects were associated with specific material (i.e. A bar of soap object would make the material more soap-like ). This worth further investigations.

rendermonkey23: The only items done outside of ZBrush are the signature text, a 4 pixel-wide border and saving in jpg format:)
