Atlantis, the immortal city.

First of all, I am very sorry because of my terrible english.

Nobody knows weather atlantis exist in realty or not, we only know that atlantis exist in mind. Its something like a symbol of a perfekt world and maybe of an immortal life, take it as a metaphor for paradise. The fascinating thing about myths and symbals is that they dont pass away, people die, generartions die, but some basic ideas live longer.

I want to show the city of atlantis as an isolated, some kind of immortal city. But in my atlantis time doesnt stand still, thatís why I dont show any ruines and sculptures of old Gods but something like a contemorary skyline and some modern powerstation under construction. Development of technologies

The only ruin you can see is the wreck in the forground, symbol of war and finaly the apocalypse of the human race and you can see in atlantis, at the background lights dont go out.

I worked with photos and also with 3d elements. Some photos are taken from the royalty free photo database (
I want to show you some steps of my work and some material.

The city with something like an underwater tent:

I liked the very easy idea, that atlantis are sunken completly with the fundament and bored through the seafloor.

low budget partical-simulation

and one detail:

I have some basic sketches on paper, maybe i will post them later:rolleyes:

Nice efforts, like it.
I find difficult to see the tent shape city, because of light particles. I think they hide the good underground work.

Moin Timo,

nice painting.
You could improve it by adding some detail do the bottom of the island instead of just noise. It looks flat.
The green in the foreground is a little bit too saturated.

Das Schwarz killt son bisschen den Realismusfaktor.

Ansonsten cool, vor allem die Partikel :)
