Sorry for bringing this old thing back. I was just fixing broken links.

Well here's my interpretation of some of comic's bad girls. I'll start with the pencil versions and then I'll show them through my coloring process. Coments welcome.

01-21-2003, 06:43 PM
I do admit Elektra looks scarily impressive

01-21-2003, 07:55 PM
Wow, those are all great! Good job!

01-22-2003, 02:29 AM
Sorry for the slow update, I actually have more than I'm showing done. It's the uploading to my server and posting that slows it down more. Thanx for the coments, here's the skin and clothes for Elektra. I see you guys liked her, hope the colors compliment the pencils...

01-22-2003, 04:36 AM
nice color job!!!

01-22-2003, 07:08 AM

01-22-2003, 07:50 AM
Well here's Elektra finished...It's always a mission to clean up pencil lines. Anyways one down. What d' ya think?

01-22-2003, 07:56 AM
Very nice! Love the air. Can't wait to see the other!

01-22-2003, 06:09 PM
oh my god, youve got super skills, its really nice to have you around, keep posting dude!

01-22-2003, 06:56 PM
hey great stuff man nice dynamic posing!

01-22-2003, 07:05 PM
The movement and pose in that one are really great, I like her face and the dangly bits off her cap and hair. Something's bothering me about the body though.. she has no hips. I mean, there's one hipbone, but the other one is missing, makes the pelvis look kinda too boyish.

That batman-esque thing is just plain twisted, I like it!! ;)

Something's getting to me about Harley's left (our right) leg... the perspective of it coming towards the screen doesn't quite fit.

Nice style! I like the unique take on this stuff.

01-23-2003, 02:00 AM
Thanx for the coments. Here's Batgirl so far...

01-23-2003, 04:52 AM

Kick as* work

Definitly worth seeing :)

01-24-2003, 08:42 AM

Does anyone know what might be wrong with my posts...My last two Batgirl images are not showing and I can't get the new images I'm trying to post working. I checked my image host and everything seems fine. What could be the problem?

01-24-2003, 08:44 AM
I blame Frank Stallone.

I dunno, maybe theres a limit on hosting images and you have to make the previous ones into links. Ask a mod.

01-24-2003, 09:55 AM
Great stuff!

Harley Quinn is looking very sexy indeed...

As for images, copy/paste the image links from a post that works and change the url :)

Or just click the img button and type in the url. Should work... Looks like a typo since there isn't even a red x

01-24-2003, 10:07 AM
Great stuff keep drawing

01-24-2003, 04:17 PM
great stuff yaotl what part of texas are you in?

01-24-2003, 05:24 PM
Cant help but to keep thinking: "what do you do those colourings with?? and how do you clean up afterwards???".. Your style is a lot like mine, i mean i can draw pretty good but i make mor of a mes, more lines, and such, but i cant colour anything, i always **** it up... its really a pest...

01-24-2003, 05:57 PM
Call me bitter or call me jealous, but i fail to see the praise for art work that is just a copy. These aren't even original characters....
You have talent, but i would like to see it through your own characters man.
i like seeing artists work like Hawkprey that are his/her own work.

01-24-2003, 07:39 PM
i love the art....as for doing his own characters. I have delt with editors of marvel comics who all agree that the fact that you can re create an exstablished character showsjust as much if not more of what talent you posses

01-24-2003, 10:40 PM
très kinky >=)

01-24-2003, 10:46 PM
very good work.

1. How are you coloring. Select areas and paint on or fill gradients.

2. Are you brushing in strokes.

3. Pshop or Painter?

To cleanup lines
Before you lay colours down
Select the open areas, inverse, save selection.
Then when you go out of bounds like you did, load the selection 'cleanup' and delete/cut the unwanted the openarea.

01-24-2003, 10:52 PM
Simply amazing drawing skill, keep it up !!

01-25-2003, 01:11 AM
Incredible work, I love you line work, and you're color has such a unique look to it. I applaud you, I hope your other efforts are just as good. This is for Elektra

You have received the CGtalk choice award . Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! very nice!

upon receiving this award, it guarantees you a spot in the cgtalk gallery hall of fame (http://gallery.cgtalk.com) - which you are now placed

P.S. if you need a different background, please send me a PM with the RGB values.

kraal: Well it's way too easy to just drop an already drawn character into PS and then just trace around it. That is why i would like to see original characters where the artist has to figure out proportions and the flow of body parts without just looking at someone elses work.

Dragon: Not trying to piss you off, but i think you've over looked a ton of peoples other work if you feel this is more qualified for a CGtalk award, than other marker and pen work that has been presented.

Possibly, my eyes can't be everywhere on the boards, 3dfestival.com the 3Dawards and cgchallenge, so I do tend to miss some great art! That's why I count on our mods to help Leo, Sheep Factory and myself out :)

Art is very subjective, what we may like is not necessarily what you would like, fact of life :)

BTW if you do see something you would like to get mentioned, just drop me a pm, it's always open!

01-25-2003, 07:36 AM
BTW if you're wondering why Elektra hit a special cord with me, is simply because it reminds me of my favorite art style, Magna Carta:

But like I said, Art is very subjective ;)

01-25-2003, 09:05 AM
fantastic coloring

01-25-2003, 09:35 AM
Well I was out for the whole day and I came back to this. I am very flattered and amazed at what can happen in a day. Thanx to everyone an thanx for ther award. As far as Neil's coments...I think you should take a look at my website and my first post, there you'll find my original stuff, this post like the title says is about comic book girls. Also, my original stuff is something I'm very careful and paranoid about, there's tons more in my sketch books thay you won't see here or anywhere. Also, my poses are entirely original...no copying whatsoever kid, so there. The only thing about this post is that the charactes are not mine, but they are characters that I love and felt like drawing one day. :) I'll post the finished pieces tomorrow, I'm now tired ...laters

01-25-2003, 07:45 PM
Well here go the finished pieces linked straight from my website since I'm still having trouble with my other image host where I have the coloring process. Again thanx for the props and the award, I didn't see it coming.

you are truly blessed
post more more more more more more
great stuff:)

01-27-2003, 12:25 AM
Wow your style is really good.

01-27-2003, 02:40 AM
lol @ the guy who said to do orignal work...

<pseudo flame on
Nothing wrong with drawing some comic characters in your own style, any comic fan/artist does it. I am sure he has some original characters he has done, just happened to post these this time.

And with your "drop them in ps and trace them" comment I think that is very ungrounded...unless you can show where he "copied" from.

I am a HUGE comics fan and these look original to me.

As for the better work presented, comment on it when you see it and keep it up front, I'm sure the mods would love to promote any great works.

Besides yo have a MGS guy in your avatar! You must know what it is to be a fan of something.
</pseudo flame off>

As for your artwork, I would love to see some original stuff to, but Elektra, Harley and Batgirl are ggreat characters, and you have complimented them well with your style.

01-27-2003, 06:01 AM
in a word ,cool !

01-27-2003, 09:40 AM
Well first off thanx to everyone who has comented on my post. Now to finaly settle this. I know how lazy we can all be and I know 'cuz I'm pretty lazy sometimes specially when it comes to browsing the net...if anyone was wondering about my original stuff here again is the link to my site (there you'll find a lot of my originals), an image from my first post, and the link to the post where I showed the coloring process...Hope you guys like it. I'll be posting more work soon.

02-25-2003, 07:18 AM
I had this drawing of SpiderGirl unfinished for a while and now I'm almost done with the coloring. I thought I might jus add it to this post since I penciled all the pieces in the same period like a series. Here's the pencils for now.

02-25-2003, 07:55 AM
I no i posted here already but after that spideygal drawing
i have bumped you into my top5 favourite line artists. Seriously well done

keep it up!

02-28-2003, 09:11 AM
As stated about your Queen of the Damned drawing......Bloody awesome:buttrock:

02-28-2003, 11:16 AM
Drawings are pretty decent. After lookin' at the original drawings on the website Neil makes a good point. The emulated comic drawings are better. I'd suggest workin on ORIGINAL images tho. As those images seem to be lacking.

02-28-2003, 05:07 PM
yaotl, i used to really hate your style, but now that i've seen your 3D, i'm thinking...now that's style! they look exactly like your drawings...amazing!

still don't think much of your 2D tho, but art is subjective!

03-01-2003, 04:41 PM
dude, really cool, your shade is very simple and incredible....

I loved the texture stone on the catwoman :applause:
