For seven consecutive days this summer, nearly 200 juried artists from around the world will be converging on the Silicon Valley to showcase some of the most innovative, astounding art ever seen or experienced. It's ZeroOne San Jose: A Global Festival of Art on the Edge and ISEA2006 Symposium. From August 7-13, ZeroOne San Jose will transform the entire city into the North American epicenter for the intersection of art and digital culture. It is a multi-dimensional, startling and brilliant event featuring exhibits, live cinema, performances, workshops, and youth activities. All are one-of-a-kind, many never-before, only-here experiences. See 01sj.org (http://01sj.org/).
An exhibits pass is $20. Exhibits will be in several places around the city of San Jose.
There is, concurrently, the ISEA06 symposium ($350, $275 for students) which will involve discussions of various aspects of New Media art.
ISEA06 registration: http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaid=110251
There will be some cool events, including a Friday evening performance by robot performance art group Survival Research Labs. Passes are also available which include exhibits and special events: http://www.symphonysiliconvalley.org/zeroone/
(But ISEA06 and ZeroOne events registration and payment are separate due to funding issues, if you want to go to both you'll need to go to both of the above links.)
Hopefully some of you will find this interesting and come out for some or all of the exhibits, events, and symposia.
